Jimmy Kimmel has a running segment on his show where celebrities read mean tweets about themselves. Some of the tweets are pretty mean, but the celebs often laugh it off or just don’t care. Because they’re celebrities, they know they’re in the spotlight and that people will say mean things sometimes. But they’re celebrities and have the means to let negative comments roll off their backs. The Canadian Safe School Network took this idea and had real students read mean tweets about themselves. The results are super depressing and a wakeup call that we need to do more to stop bullying.
