If you haven’t seen Pitch Perfect, you should do so ASAP. Anna Kendrick’s character, Beca, auditions for The Bellas using “The Cup Song.” This little trick went viral a few years ago when Lulu and The Lampshades used cups to accompany their song, “You’re Gonna Miss Me.” It’s probably one of the coolest things ever, and Jamie is giving it a go in this week’s episode of See Gurl Try!

5 Reasons You Should Be Super Excited For The Pitch Perfect DVD

A lot of movies came out this year, and I loved most of them. But one of my absolute favorite was definitely Pitch Perfect. When I first saw the trailer, I thought it looked like a sassier, longer version of a Glee episode, and my expectations were not high (I’m not a Glee fan). But then I saw the movie – and I’m not even kidding you when I say that I laughed so hard I choked a little on my popcorn.

Pitch Perfect is all kinds of awesome. It’s hysterical, sweet and just plain fun. So I am obviously counting down the days until it comes out on DVD – and it was just announced that that day will be December 18. That’s a little less than a month away! I’m going to own it and I’m going to watch it, on repeat, until my family hides it from me. There are a ton of reasons why you should buy this for yourself, but here are the top five reasons:

Rebel Wilson

As I’ve said before, Rebel Wilson is my girl. You might recognize her from her awesome role as Kristen Wiig’s roommate in Bridesmaids, or maybe even from her amazing rap video. Not familiar with her? Get familiar, girl. In Pitch Perfect, Rebel totally steals the show. She has what are by far the absolute funniest lines in the movie and she was the reason I laughed so hard I almost cried and choked at the same time. Oh, and she made horizontal running a thing, which I will always love about her.

In case I haven’t gotten my point across yet, this movie is hilarious. While Rebel’s hysterical one-liners top the charts, the dudes in The Treblemakers and the other very unique ladies of The Bellas can definitely hold their own. Even the more serious parts of the movie were made funny. Also? Anna Kendrick shows off a side of her that I’ve never seen before, and I like it. She’s really funny! This movie will make you happy no matter how sad you might have been feeling, trust me.

Skylar might be new on the Hollywood scene, but I definitely hope to see more of him. From the second he popped up on the big screen, I fell in love. He barely opened his mouth before I was imagining us getting married on a beach. Skylar’s character Jesse is basically the perfect guy in every way. I don’t want to spoil it for you if you haven’t seen it yet, but he sings, he dances, he loves movies and he’s basically just the sweetest dude ever. I mean, how can it get better?

Two words: Girl power!

Pitch Perfect is really about a group of girls who get together to create amazing music despite the fact that the college acapella world seems to be mostly guys. Even though they’ve faced challenges in the past (I won’t ruin it for you!), they work together to try to overcome them and be the best they can be. It’s so easy to relate to the friendships between the girls and I love all of the love in The Bellas!

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to start dropping gift hints

The DVD is being released at the perfect time: the holidays! I’m sure this was no accident, but who cares? That means you don’t have to buy it on your own, you can ask someone else to buy it for you. Start dropping the hints during Thanksgiving to your parents, aunt, grandma, hey, even get the turkey in on it. Maybe make up your own acapella song and then let everyone know how inspired you were by the movie. I’m sure it will go over well.

We are so freaking excited for the nationwide release of Pitch Perfect this Friday. And we have this awesome behind-the-scenes footage with Ester Dean, one of the lead members of the Barden Bellas, the all-female a cappella group in the movie.

Don’t know Ester yet? Well, she’s pretty awesome and big on the song writing scene. She’s written songs for people like Katy Perry, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna and Lil Wayne. Badass, right?
