You Need: Two Small Hair Elastics

Trust me, you need two of them to make this super easy!

You Need: Scissors

We're not cutting hair, don't worry!

Pull Hair Into A Ponytail

Using one of your small elastics, tie your hair into a ponytail on whichever side you want your braid to be.

Make Two Sections

Now separate your ponytail into two sections. We're calling these A and B. You could also say 1 and 2, but I don't like numbers.

Grab A Small Piece From The Outside Of Section A

You want to grab from the outermost part of this section. The smaller the pieces, the more detailed the braid will be. The size really is up to you.

Pull The Piece Over To Section B

Like so.

See?

So now that piece from A is part of section B.

Grab A Small Piece From The Outside Of Section B

Just like you did before, but from B.

Pull The Piece Over To Section A

You're getting the hang of it!

Look, A Tail!

This is how your tail will look at the beginning. So you're going to repeat these steps all the way down! A to B, B to A, and so on.

Braid Tight

Braid as tightly as you can to really create the look of a fishtail. You're going to mess with it later to create a more boho look, but when you're braiding keep it together.

Tie It Off

Braid until you reach the end, and tie off your braid with the other hair elastic.

Cut The First One

Using your scissors, carefully cut the first elastic off. You could leave it on too if you want, but this will help create the effortless fishtail look.

Ta-Da!

You are all done! Feel free to pull apart your braid a little to loosen it up and look more messy.

Like I Did

Since I did this when my hair was curly, I wanted to keep it loose so I pulled my braid apart quite a bit.

Be Calm & Confident

I don't know if I've said this enough, but guys dig confidence. If you're going to break the ice and start a conversation, you have to be confident. Mumbling and blushing through the only thing isn't ideal, although it happens (mostly to me, so don't worry). Try to be as confident and relaxed as you can be. Don't let the thought "I'M TALKING TO HIM" race through your mind - pretend you're talking to a close friend. Just try to relax as much as possible. And if you're not relaxed? Fake it 'till you make it, baby.

Make Eye Contact

Staring at the floor as you talk to this dude is not only going to be really impolite and weird, but it's also going to confuse him. Even if it makes you blush, make eye contact with him as you approach him and when you talk to him. Force yourself to do it! It will show that you're confident and it makes for an overall better conversation. Plus, that gives you an excuse to stare dreamily into his eyes.

Don't Act Stupid About Things You're Smart About

Don't pull a Cady from Mean Girls type of thing and act stupid about something you're definitely not stupid about just to start a convo. First of all, people can usually tell when someone is being genuine and if he thinks you're being fake, he's not going to be into it. Second of all, if he catches you in your lie, then you are going to look stupid. You also shouldn't try to pretend you're into something you're not just to talk to him. Find a topic you feel comfortable discussing and go from there.

Use School (Or Work) To Your Advantage

If you guys are in the same class, or classes, then perfect - you've already got an in! Catch up with him as he's walking out the door and say something like, "Hey, do you know what we're supposed to do for this homework assignment/test?" Or, if you know he's good at that subject and you genuinely aren't, you can say something like, "Hey do you know the answer to this? I need help." The same goes for work - you've already got plenty to talk about, so just pick something easy.

Ask About A Mutual Interest

Maybe you saw him reading your favorite book or maybe you overheard him talking about a movie you also saw just last week. Or maybe you noticed he was listening to a band that you also like. Whatever it is, take a mutual interest and run with it. Say something like, "Have you ever seen that band live?" or "What did you think of that movie? I loved it!" or "Oh, I love that book too!" These are such easy ice-breakers and are almost guaranteed to start a convo.

Try A Simple Compliment

I'm not saying you have to run up to your crush and be all like, "you're a sexy beast" but a small, innocent compliment could be a perfect way to start talking. If he's wearing a nice shirt, you can say something simple like, "I love that shirt!" If he said something smart in class, you can be like, "By the way, I totally agreed with you in there. Nice work!" It doesn't come off as too desperate or too flirty but it will still pique his interest.

Ask To Borrow A Pencil

Asking to borrow something is another great and easy way to start up a conversation. Just make sure you don't let things end there. Say something like, "Hey, do you have a pencil I can borrow?" and then go into something else like, "Oh, cool watch" or something like that. You get what I'm saying.

If you're seriously freaking out and you sort of already know what you want to say, try practicing in front of a mirror before you actually speak to your crush. You might feel really silly, but it might make you feel more comfortable with the words so that you're less likely to stutter or mumble.

Start with a fresh face

Wash your face, tone and moisturize. Do whatever you do skin-wise to prep. Apply your primer if you use one as well!

Identify your culprit

Oh hey, zit! Thanks for coming, but I don't want anyone to see you.

Grab some concealer

CoverGirl Invisible Cream Concealer is my weapon of choice. It's my favorite concealer at the moment. You can get it here!

Put your concealer on a brush

You could use the doe-foot applicator that comes with most concealers, but if you apply directly to a blemish and then stick it back in the tube, you're contaminating everything. So grab a brush that you can clean after each use!

Stick it on your zit

Just dab it right on there

See?

Don't use too much. You can always apply more.

Blend!

And by blend I mean dab your brush lightly over your blemish and the surrounding area until it's covered.

Poof! Gone!

No zit here.

Finish the rest of your makeup

I dusted on some powder to cover my whole face. You can't even tell I had a zit in the first place!

Ta-da!

You're all set!

I know I’m not the only one who sometimes all the time finds it hard to make decisions. Should I get mac and cheese or a salad for lunch? Should I watch re-runs of New Girl or The Mindy Project? Should I go out with my friends or should I stay home and be a bum? ARGH. Sometimes it’s just like, someone else make my decisions for me. Please. Because I can’t handle it.

So, yes, a quick tip on how to make a decision in the easiest possible way would definitely be something I’d be interested in – and I’m assuming you would be, too. After all, I think we can all say we’re sick of the back and forth convo with our friends: “Where should we go?” “I don’t care, wherever you guys want to go.” “I don’t care, you pick.” “No, really, I don’t care!”

A new study published in the journal Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience shows that if you distract yourself for a few minutes, you’ll make a smarter and better decision. Um… I can totally do that!

Does this sound a little weird to you? I can understand that, but these researchers swear that it totally works. Study leader J. David Creswell, Ph.D., says that even when you’re distracted and thinking about other things, “the part of the brain that’s responsible for learning information continues to be active.” He also says, “Your conscious mind has a capacity constraint – it can only think about a couple of features at once. But your unconscious mind doesn’t have these capacity constants. It can weigh all relevant information more effectively.”

Basically, distracting yourself helps you make a decision because it helps your brain let go of all of those annoying little details it can’t help but hold onto. When you’re trying to make a decision, especially a big one, you start considering every tiny little thing. That makes your brain confused and unable to decide on anything. But when you distract yourself and relax your brain for a few minutes, things become more clear.

How should you distract yourself? Up to you. Keep in mind that this distracting should only go on for about two minutes, so don’t plan on plopping yourself in front of a good movie before you decide whether to take that job or not. You can, however, listen to your favorite song, read a cool article on the Internet (Gurl.com… just sayin’) or watch a funny YouTube video. Or, as Jezebel suggests, you can break out your vibrator. Hey, whatever works, right?

I’ve had several disastrous and several good Valentine’s Days throughout my life. I never really got worked up over it or had high expectations because that’s when things go wrong. Whether you’re in a relationship or not, Valentine’s Day does take some preparation.
