class="wp-caption-text">I don’t see the problem here… | Source: WENN.com

I’m obsessed with sweatpants, preferably the yoga pants from the Victoria’s Secret PINK line. What’s not to love? They’re comfy, they’re warm, they’re cozy and while they don’t scream “FASHION”, I honestly think they can be pretty cute. So I feel personally offended by this post on the New York Daily News that totally puts down Mila Kunis for being photographed in sweats. The dek for the post literally says this: “Once ‘Sexiest Woman Alive,’ ‘Black Swan’ star now dresses like an ugly duckling.”

I mean, seriously? Is that really necessary? Okay, so she’s been photographed wearing a lot of sweatpants lately. Um, who cares? How does this affect us? I get that she’s a celebrity and her appearance is always going to be judged, however unfairly that may be, but this article is just way too mean and nasty to ignore. Not only is it absolutely ridiculous to call someone who looks and acts like Mila Kunis an “ugly duckling”, but it’s totally not cool to rip on sweatpants.

Before we get into why sweatpants are amazing, let’s just talk about why Mila Kunis can rock sweats as often as she likes. The Daily News says, “Sexiest? More like schlubbiest woman alive” but I don’t agree. Let’s face it: whether she’s wearing dirty sweats or a $10,000 gown, Mila still looks hot. I don’t think she’s “seemingly eager to shed her Sexiest Woman Alive title”, as the Daily News says, and I don’t think she looks “dumpy” or “frumpy”, either.

Also, I don’t understand this: “She’s a Golden Globe-nominated actress for Black Swan, not a member of Justin Bieber’s entourage.” So, wait… being nominated for an award means you can’t dress like a bum on your off days or when you’re on your way to the gym? Whoa. Where have I been? Why didn’t I know this?

The article then goes into detail on the more respectable celebrity females who take the time to dress casually chic rather than “dressing like an unwashed teenage boy.” That’s when I stopped reading. Sorry.

Let’s get this straight: sweatpants are awesome and I don’t appreciate anyone telling me they’re not. I also don’t appreciate the NY Daily News trying to make girls feel bad about themselves for not looking like they just stepped out of the pages of Vogue magazine every single day of their lives. I love fashion as much as anyone, but that doesn’t mean a girl can’t rock a pair of sweats whenever she wants. Give me a break!

How do you feel about sweatpants? Do you think this Daily News article is totally ridiculous? Do you think Mila should change up her wardrobe? <a

For a few years, I watched The Little Mermaid every single day, which my parents must have loved (not really). Whenever a Disney movie came on, I sat in front of the TV in awed silence, wondering what I had to do to be just like the fabulous princesses on the screen.

Well, I might not be a real life princess (never say never!), but at least I can dress like a cartoon one, right? I love taking fashion inspiration from the on-screen heroines who were my role models growing up. And you can dress like them, too! No, that doesn’t mean getting decked out in ball gowns every day… it means using their Disney outfits as inspiration for some cute outfits you can wear any day of the week. The point isn’t to look exactly like a snowman or a candy cane or Charlie Brown. The point is to look inspired by them, and it’s way easier than you might have thought.

If you’re ready to get into the full holiday spirit, I would definitely recommend trying these looks out. But the best thing about them isn’t just their Christmas cheer… it’s the fact that these outfits can be worn at any time of the year (I rhymed! Total accident). Try ‘em out for some cute new looks that will most definitely get you noticed. If you want to buy the items pictured in these sets (and why wouldn’t you?!), just click on the image for more info. Here are 10 adorable Christmas outfits:

A snowflake

Take some glittery inspiration from a snowflake – a sparkly gray skirt paired with dotted gray tights and a white sweater is a super cute combo. Add some glittery sneakers, a pretty blue coat, snowflake gloves and a snowflake necklace, and you’re basically indistinguishable.

Mrs. Claus

You don’t need to look like a cuddly grandma to channel Mrs. Claus. Just pair a simple red dress with a white cardigan, some sparkly flats, a green beanie and a pair of hipster glasses for effect. Cookie earrings and cookie scented body wash complete the look.

Cindy Lou Who

Head-to-toe pink can be a little intense, so instead of a pink dress, like a comfy pink sweater with skinny jeans. Pair it with a red bow headband to get Cindy Lou Who’s innocent look and Converses – this is basically the comfiest outfit ever.

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer

Why would you want to look like a reindeer? Um, because this outfit is really cute, that’s why. Brown jeans and a muted top give you a reindeer look while bright red nail polish is similar to Rudolph’s nose. To make this look even more obvious, wear this too-cute-for-words reindeer hat.

Candy Cane

Who says white pants can’t be worn after Labor Day? Definitely not true. Pair these jeans with a loose red sweater and black boots for a very festive look. And if you smell like candy cane scented body wash and lip gloss, we’re pretty sure everyone will get the hint.

Andes Mints

You know these yummy chocolate mints that appear every Christmas but then seem to disappear the rest of the year? Yeah, you can dress like them. This outfit is cute, girly and funky – it’s basically perfect for a first date (and he’ll never guess you’re outfit inspiration).

Frosty the Snowman

I think this is my favorite look. It’s so simple, but so cute. Add a black beanie and red scarf to your white sweater and jeans. For a super cute touch, pair this with snowman earrings and a snowman mug.

Buddy The Elf

Yellow tights are an awesome pop of bright color during a dreary winter day, so don’t be afraid of them. If you want to get seriously funky, you can add this fun Christmas hat into the mix.

Charlie Brown

I bet you never thought you’d get outfit ideas from Charlie Brown, huh? Well, I have to say that he gives some pretty good ones in the Christmas movie. Wear a red coat over your orange tee and jeans, and add in a few touches of brown with your shoes and hat.

New Year’s Eve Ball

And finally, get into the spirit of New Year’s Eve by decking out in as many gold sparkles as possible. This dress is perfect for the occasion with black tights and a little clutch. Get a super dramatic look with fake eyelashes and heels.

Which of these outfits would you wear? What’s your favorite? class="wp-caption-text">Is the Modesty Club just a coverup for glorified slut shaming? | Source: ModestyClub.com

Okay, so here’s something somewhat cool on the surface. A 15-year-old girl from California named Saige Hatch started a Modesty Club at her school because she wanted to dress conservatively, and it grew to an international sensation. Fair enough. But here’s what we have a slight issue with: Saige and her brother, who founded a “No Cussing” club, are implying that anyone dresses in a way that they don’t consider modest simply doesn’t respect herself.

What do they consider immodest? If you show your shoulders, wear short skirts, or show cleavage, the Modesty Club will not hand you over a card or a handshake. Instead, they’ll glance disapprovingly or maybe recite one of the worst raps we’ve ever heard since Soulja Boy was almost relevant. Seriously, we really hope they’re in on the joke here, otherwise there’s a lack of self-respect here in releasing this thing:

How you dress is an expression of who you are and what you’re feeling. But maybe someone who wears a short skirt has a lot of self-respect–but also knows that she has great legs and wants to show them off. Why not? Have strong shoulders and want to show them off in a halter or strapless dress? More power to you, but be forewarned: That may, according to the Modesty Club, mean you don’t respect yourself. If you’re like me and have an ample chest, almost anything short of a turtleneck–which I find uncomfortable because they make me feel like I’m choking (same reason I don’t tie scarves too tightly)–will show cleavage, whether I like it or not. It doesn’t mean I have no self-respect. It means, hey! I have big boobs and I’m supporting them with proper undergarments, and that’s what happens.

If you want to dress modestly, dude–that’s awesome for you. Congrats, high fives, fist-pounds for you, and we bet you look great! But just because someone doesn’t cover up head to toe every day doesn’t mean it’s okay to make assumptions about or judge them. By implying that a girl in a v-neck sweater has no self-respect and that a girl who wears shorts in public when it’s 90 degrees outside isn’t “dressed for success,” that’s kind of a sexist, prejudiced, and borderline slut-shaming judgment to make. And those same judgments are often what leads to the low self-esteem that the Modesty Club seems to be so earnestly trying to prevent.

Do you dress modestly? Do you think the Modesty Club has the right idea? Do you think dressing immodestly shows a lack of self-respect? Do you think the Modesty Club is sort of slut shaming girls who don’t abide by its dress code? Tell us in the <a

It also doesn’t hurt if that staple is a cheap one. Buying trendy items is fun and there’s nothing wrong with it… but classic clothes that you can mix and match are definitely must-haves. The biggest must-have of all? A little black dress, of course!

A casual black dress is so easy to work with and can be worn pretty much everywhere – trust me, I’ve done it. So when I fell in love with this Claudia Jersey Cap Sleeve Skater Dress from Boohoo.com (it’s only $20, guys. $20!), I knew I needed to show it off. Want to buy this for yourself? I’ve done the work for you and put together five ways to wear this black dress. Check it out, and click on the picture if you want to see more info on the items:

For A Holiday Party:

<a

The flats will keep you comfy and the fun Christmas-y add on’s like a mini candy cane necklace and China Glaze holiday nail polish will make you stand out.

For School:

A dress can get totally casual when you pair it with fun patterned tights and flat ankle boots. The white sweater will keep you warm and the panda hat is just a really cute touch. Also? That peacoat is awesome.

For A Date Night:

You can wear this outfit whether you’re going on a date with your crush, long-term BF or just having a girl’s night. Wear a sweater to keep you warm, but cinch it with a thin belt to make it more flattering. Add a pop of color with bright blue flats and channel your inner Taylor Swift with a swipe of red lipstick.

For New Years Eve:

<img

The blazer is super fun and the heart earrings and bow clutch keep things cute. If you’re going to a fancy NYE party, wear the heels… if it’s more casual, gold flats will work. Or bring the gold flats along in case the heels start to hurt!

For Looking Professional:

<a

Keep things interesting with a blazer in a bright color. Flats will keep your look classy without looking too old and pale pink nail polish is a nice touch.

Which of these looks is your favorite? Are you going to try any of them? Well, here’s one I bet you haven’t thought of: Going to the museum with your honey! And although you could take him to that one art museum you went to on your fifth-grade field trip, why not go somewhere totally new and exciting? There are museums for just about anything you might be into. You’ll both learn something awesome and have a ton to talk about when you grab pizza after.

Not convinced that museums can be cool? Check these out, then get back to me!

Video Game Museum
The International Center for the History of Electronic Games is in Rochester, NY, and has just about every game you might want to play. Oh, and bonus? You’re actually allowed to play them! Sure, there are a few super rare items behind glass, but most of this place is totally hands-on!

Jelly Bean Museum
If you love jellybeans like I love jellybeans, you won’t want to miss the mini jellybean museum inside the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield, CA. Sure, there are only a handful of portraits made out of jellybeans, but it’s still one of the best things you’ll ever see in your life. Pinkie swear.

Rock and Roll Museum
Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is maybe one of the coolest museums in the world. If you go, you can see everything from Katy Perry’s peppermint pinwheel dress to a guitar that John Lennon used to play. There’s seriously something here for everybody, and if your guy doesn’t want to go with you, I do!

Fashion Museum
The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art isn’t just something you should see with your girlfriends (although there are tons of gorgeous dresses on display to drool at!). They also have original punk rock outfits from 1970s London and costumes from Braveheart. Win. Win. Win.

Prehistoric Wonder Museum
One of the coolest museums I’ve ever been to is in the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Not only is it insane to think about saber toothed tigers and wooly mammoths wandering the streets of Downtown L.A. (they seriously used to!) but there are really fun hills to roll down when you’re tired of being inside.

What are your favorite museums, or what museums do you wish existed? class="wp-caption-text">Someone posted this plus-sized mannequin on Reddit, fearing it promotes obesity. Uh, what? | Source: Reddit

A lot of people need plus sized clothing, so to respond, clothing stores started displaying it on plus-sized mannequins. Makes sense, right?

So why are people making a huge deal out of this? On Reddit, which often hosts the best and worst of Internet commenters and trolls, someone posted the above photo of a larger mannequin with the message, “Anyone else horrified that they make obese mannequins too now?”

We’re not sure what’s so horrifying about displaying plus sized clothes on a mannequin that they’re designed to fit. The fact is, most people aren’t a size 00 (the average woman is a 14, and 70 percent of Americans are considered “overweight”), so displaying clothing on tiny mannequins doesn’t really give most shoppers get a good idea of what a particular item will look like on them.

One commenter echoed the idea, which, to us, just sounds like common sense. “OMG, it’s about time! I’ve always hated seeing the size I have to get displayed on a much smaller model, then trying it on to see that it looks completely different on me.”

Of course, there were people who were a lot more judgmental and, frankly, a little ignorant. (The anonymity and freedom of the Interwebs is both a gift and curse.) One genius wrote, “I just fear that obese will become the new normal as we try to be politically correct about it. Being obese is not the same as being black/gay/whatever.”

Well, that’s partially true: Being obese isn’t the same as being black, gay, or whatever “whatever” is. Being obese is a serious health problem, and guess what? Most people who are obese don’t want to be obese. Most people who are obese aren’t thrilled about it. While one could argue that obesity is a treatable and preventable condition, it’s important to remember that most people don’t become and stay obese because they’re happy. Treating obese people like they’re not actually people isn’t going to improve anything, be it their health nor, obviously, their self esteem. And when the latter is so damaged and disregarded, it’s hard for someone to care about improving the former.

Of course, this is all besides the fact that no one who isn’t obese wants to become obese. To suggest that anyone wants to be physically ill is idiotic. If we put mannequins in wheelchairs, is anyone going to suggest that disabled may become the new normal and that we’re all going to amputate our legs to conform? Get over yourself and give me a break.

There’s nothing horrifying about a plus sized mannequin. Unless it comes to life and starts wielding a chain saw, we suggest everyone get over it–and if it bothers you that much, just shut up and shop somewhere else that caters to your superiority complex.

Do you think plus-sized mannequins promote obesity? Do you think obesity is “the new normal?” Do you think mannequins should stay tiny or come in varying sizes? Do you think plus-sized mannequins would help or hurt sales? Do you think they’d make people aspire to be obese? Tell us in the <a
