Growing up, I loved watching Disney movies… and I’m sure most of you can relate. For a few years, I watched The Little Mermaid every single day, which my parents must have loved (not really). Whenever a Disney movie came on, I sat in front of the TV in awed silence, wondering what I had to do to be just like the fabulous princesses on the screen.

Well, I might not be a real life princess (never say never!), but at least I can dress like a cartoon one, right? I love taking fashion inspiration from the on-screen heroines who were my role models growing up. And you can dress like them, too! Dress Like 10 Of Your Favorite Christmas Things

I bet you never thought you could get fashion inspiration from random Christmas-related items, right? Wrong! Guys, you can get fashion inspiration out of pretty much anything – especially Christmas stuff. The point isn’t to look exactly like a snowman or a candy cane or Charlie Brown. The point is to look inspired by them, and it’s way easier than you might have thought.

If you’re ready to get into the full holiday spirit, I would definitely recommend trying these looks out. But the best thing about them isn’t just their Christmas cheer… it’s the fact that these outfits can be worn at any time of the year (I rhymed! Total accident). A snowflake

Take some glittery inspiration from a snowflake – a sparkly gray skirt paired with dotted gray tights and a white sweater is a super cute combo. Add some glittery sneakers, a pretty blue coat, snowflake gloves and a snowflake necklace, and you’re basically indistinguishable.

Mrs. Claus

You don’t need to look like a cuddly grandma to channel Mrs. Claus. Just pair a simple red dress with a white cardigan, some sparkly flats, a green beanie and a pair of hipster glasses for effect. Cookie earrings and cookie scented body wash complete the look.

Cindy Lou Who

Head-to-toe pink can be a little intense, so instead of a pink dress, like a comfy pink sweater with skinny jeans. Pair it with a red bow headband to get Cindy Lou Who’s innocent look and Converses – this is basically the comfiest outfit ever.

I think this is my favorite look. It’s so simple, but so cute. Add a black beanie and red scarf to your white sweater and jeans. For a super cute touch, pair this with snowman earrings and a snowman mug.

Yellow tights are an awesome pop of bright color during a dreary winter day, so don’t be afraid of them. If you want to get seriously funky, you can add this fun Christmas hat into the mix.

Charlie Brown

I bet you never thought you’d get outfit ideas from Charlie Brown, huh? Well, I have to say that he gives some pretty good ones in the Christmas movie. Wear a red coat over your orange tee and jeans, and add in a few touches of brown with your shoes and hat.

New Year’s Eve Ball

And finally, get into the spirit of New Year’s Eve by decking out in as many gold sparkles as possible. This dress is perfect for the occasion with black tights and a little clutch. Get a super dramatic look with fake eyelashes and heels.

Why “Modesty” May Be Just Be Slut Shaming

Okay, so here’s something somewhat cool on the surface. A 15-year-old girl from California named Saige Hatch started a Modesty Club at her school because she wanted to dress conservatively, and it grew to an international sensation. Fair enough. But here’s what we have a slight issue with: Saige and her brother, who founded a “No Cussing” club, are implying that anyone dresses in a way that they don’t consider modest simply doesn’t respect herself.

What do they consider immodest? If you show your shoulders, wear short skirts, or show cleavage, the Modesty Club will not hand you over a card or a handshake. Instead, they’ll glance disapprovingly or maybe recite one of the worst raps we’ve ever heard since Soulja Boy was almost relevant. Seriously, we really hope they’re in on the joke here, otherwise there’s a lack of self-respect here in releasing this thing:

How you dress is an expression of who you are and what you’re feeling. But maybe someone who wears a short skirt has a lot of self-respect–but also knows that she has great legs and wants to show them off. Why not? Have strong shoulders and want to show them off in a halter or strapless dress? More power to you, but be forewarned: That may, according to the Modesty Club, mean you don’t respect yourself. If you’re like me and have an ample chest, almost anything short of a turtleneck–which I find uncomfortable because they make me feel like I’m choking (same reason I don’t tie scarves too tightly)–will show cleavage, whether I like it or not. It doesn’t mean I have no self-respect. It means, hey! I have big boobs and I’m supporting them with proper undergarments, and that’s what happens.

If you want to dress modestly, dude–that’s awesome for you. Congrats, high fives, fist-pounds for you, and we bet you look great! But just because someone doesn’t cover up head to toe every day doesn’t mean it’s okay to make assumptions about or judge them. By implying that a girl in a v-neck sweater has no self-respect and that a girl who wears shorts in public when it’s 90 degrees outside isn’t “dressed for success,” that’s kind of a sexist, prejudiced, and borderline slut-shaming judgment to make. And those same judgments are often what leads to the low self-esteem that the Modesty Club seems to be so earnestly trying to prevent.

5 Super Cool Musuems To Visit On A Date

Sick of the same old date ideas? Well, here’s one I bet you haven’t thought of: Going to the museum with your honey! And although you could take him to that one art museum you went to on your fifth-grade field trip, why not go somewhere totally new and exciting? There are museums for just about anything you might be into. You’ll both learn something awesome and have a ton to talk about when you grab pizza after.

Video Game Museum
The International Center for the History of Electronic Games is in Rochester, NY, and has just about every game you might want to play. Oh, and bonus? You’re actually allowed to play them! Sure, there are a few super rare items behind glass, but most of this place is totally hands-on!

Jelly Bean Museum
If you love jellybeans like I love jellybeans, you won’t want to miss the mini jellybean museum inside the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield, CA. Sure, there are only a handful of portraits made out of jellybeans, but it’s still one of the best things you’ll ever see in your life. Pinkie swear.

Rock and Roll Museum
Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is maybe one of the coolest museums in the world. If you go, you can see everything from Katy Perry’s peppermint pinwheel dress to a guitar that John Lennon used to play. There’s seriously something here for everybody, and if your guy doesn’t want to go with you, I do!

Fashion Museum
The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art isn’t just something you should see with your girlfriends (although there are tons of gorgeous dresses on display to drool at!). They also have original punk rock outfits from 1970s London and costumes from Braveheart. Win. Win. Win.

Prehistoric Wonder Museum
One of the coolest museums I’ve ever been to is in the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Not only is it insane to think about saber toothed tigers and wooly mammoths wandering the streets of Downtown L.A. (they seriously used to!) but there are really fun hills to roll down when you’re tired of being inside.

Plus-Sized Mannequins Promote Obesity? On What Planet?

A lot of people need plus sized clothing, so to respond, clothing stores started displaying it on plus-sized mannequins. Makes sense, right?

So why are people making a huge deal out of this? On Reddit, which often hosts the best and worst of Internet commenters and trolls, someone posted the above photo of a larger mannequin with the message, “Anyone else horrified that they make obese mannequins too now?”

We’re not sure what’s so horrifying about displaying plus sized clothes on a mannequin that they’re designed to fit. The fact is, most people aren’t a size 00 (the average woman is a 14, and 70 percent of Americans are considered “overweight”), so displaying clothing on tiny mannequins doesn’t really give most shoppers get a good idea of what a particular item will look like on them.

One commenter echoed the idea, which, to us, just sounds like common sense. “OMG, it’s about time! I’ve always hated seeing the size I have to get displayed on a much smaller model, then trying it on to see that it looks completely different on me.”

Of course, there were people who were a lot more judgmental and, frankly, a little ignorant. (The anonymity and freedom of the Interwebs is both a gift and curse.) One genius wrote, “I just fear that obese will become the new normal as we try to be politically correct about it. Being obese is not the same as being black/gay/whatever.”

Well, that’s partially true: Being obese isn’t the same as being black, gay, or whatever “whatever” is. Being obese is a serious health problem, and guess what? Most people who are obese don’t want to be obese. Most people who are obese aren’t thrilled about it. While one could argue that obesity is a treatable and preventable condition, it’s important to remember that most people don’t become and stay obese because they’re happy. Treating obese people like they’re not actually people isn’t going to improve anything, be it their health nor, obviously, their self esteem. And when the latter is so damaged and disregarded, it’s hard for someone to care about improving the former.

Of course, this is all besides the fact that no one who isn’t obese wants to become obese. To suggest that anyone wants to be physically ill is idiotic. If we put mannequins in wheelchairs, is anyone going to suggest that disabled may become the new normal and that we’re all going to amputate our legs to conform? Get over yourself and give me a break.

There’s nothing horrifying about a plus sized mannequin. Unless it comes to life and starts wielding a chain saw, we suggest everyone get over it–and if it bothers you that much, just shut up and shop somewhere else that caters to your superiority complex.

She meant: A princess on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Honey, please remember that long luscious hair isn’t a right…it’s a privilege.

She said: Yeah I’m so over the whole shiny-long-Prom-Dress thing too. But…a bandage dress? I know, I know, Kim K. makes them look great, but dancing all night–won’t that be kind of…uncomfortable?

She meant: Kim doesn’t dance, she just poses for pics and goes home. But go ahead, buy that sausage casing of a dress. I’d love to see how you slither in and out of a limo in two pairs Spanx…

She said: A dolphin! On your lower back! Of COURSE I love it. I mean it’s just so…um, well done! There’s like, no way you’ll get sick of it. Who gets sick of dolphins?!
