Remember that video, Cat Friend vs. Dog Friend? We showed it to you guys a few weeks ago. I freakin’ loved that video, so obviously I love that these two girls did an imitation video inspired by that one called Cat Girlfriend vs. Dog Girlfriend.

As someone who owns both a cat and a dog, I can tell you that this is pretty much totally accurate. I especially love the waking up part. My cat does this thing where she jumps onto my stomach and nuzzles into my face until I wake up. This unfortunately happens at 3:30 AM every morning. Anyway, watch the video. It’s adorable and so funny.

Pawsome: What Dogs Think About Yahoo Buying Tumblr

As I’m sure we’ve all heard, Yahoo bought Tumblr earlier this week and, well, we’ve all been kind of freaking out a little bit. What does this mean for Tumblr? What’s going to happen to everyone’s favorite site? Is it going to get complicated? Is it going to get censored? Is it going to become totally lame? GOD, PLEASE TELL US.

Anyway, we’ve all been thinking about how this Tumblr acquisition affects us, but have you thought about how the dogs feel about it? Yes, that’s right, I said dogs. Their opinion matters too, okay?! Well, Buzzfeed wondered and then they got answers. Check it out (PS: the end is the best part):

OMG. You guys seriously need to watch this puppy try to play catch right now. You know how I wrote that post about how cats are better than dogs? This video is making me reconsider my stance.

We have a serious situation over here in the Gurl offices: full-on dogs vs. cats debate. I’ll admit, Jessica had a few pretty cute reasons why cats are better. I totally disagree. I even have a cat, but I have three dogs which are way more awesome.

Dogs are so great. They love you unconditionally, they’re comforting, they protect you. I’ve never met a dog I didn’t like. And PUPPIES. Like. I can’t. I live by a puppy store, and I wish I could adopt every little nugget.

True life, I am totally going to be a cat lady when I get older. I am obsessed, to put it mildly. I have a cat of my own and she’s basically the queen of the house. If my mom would let me, I would have about four more, but she won’t, so I’ll have to wait until I have my own place to have my very own little cat kingdom.

That being said, I love dogs also – my German Shepard/hound mix is freakin’ amazing. But. But. I have to say that, in my heart, cats win and will always win.

So are you wondering why cats are soooo much better than dogs? Well, dear readers, I put together a little list of reasons and made this a cats vs. dogs post. Check ‘em out and then try to tell me your precious puppy is still better than an adorable little kitten.

Get A Dog, Get A Boyfriend?

If you’re wondering how to meet a special someone AND you love walking your dog, you should be pleased by the news that your dog could actually play a part in snagging you a date.

In a recent British study, about one in four people said that they “found love” while walking their dog. Even if you’re already in a relationship, walking your dog can still be a social boost, as one in three people said that they met new friends through their dog walks.

To start, I am obsessed with puppies. I do a Google image search for puppies about four times a day. I mean, sometimes I vary it… like, “puppies in snow.”

So while I would totally stop to play with a cute dog on a walk, I’m afraid I would just focus all my attention on the puppy and not really care about who was holding the leash. But I guess the fact that I even stopped at all opens me up to a social opportunity that I wouldn’t have had if I just kept walking by someone. Okay, I am seeing how this could definitely work.

Unfortunately, I can’t say I have any personal meet-cute stories while walking my dog. I had a dog for most of high school, and even though I was the super responsible sibling when it came to walking her, it did not do me any dating favors. Curiously, as soon as I left for college, I got a boyfriend. So I guess there is no other explanation besides my dog was trying to sabotage my dating life.

Since then, my family got another dog, but I honestly don’t feel like this one would be that great of a wing woman either. She is always doing gross stuff, like rolling in mud or eating weird things in the woods. I don’t know if that’s really the behavior that gets a cute guy to stop and say “hi” as I am walking her. My dog is also super spoiled by my mom, so I am pretty sure she views me as her frenemy, so I just feel like she would make sure I didn’t meet anyone while we went on our walks (but seriously, my dog is the cutest and I love her).

While I may have never experienced the dating perks of walking a dog, I definitely can attest to the friend findings. My mom has made a lot of friends over walks with my dog. For me, I used to walk my dog with my neighborhood friends even after I switched schools, so our dogs served as our link to keep in touch.

Obviously, having a dog is a big responsibility so you should not get one just for trying out a match-making experiment. But if you’ve maybe been slacking on pitching in on the family’s dog walking schedule, this news might be a reason to pick that leash back up and get outside.

10 Celebs And Their (Totally Cute) Dog Twins

Sometimes when I see a person and their dog, it’s crazy to me just how perfectly matched they are. Looks definitely play a part in it, but personality is usually there too. For example, my mom and my dog make total sense together. They both have fluffy blonde hair and do the same kind of eye roll, but they also have kind of the same friendly, silly personality.

Since I am a little obsessed with dogs, when I meet new people I tend to make an internal note about what kind of dog I’d match with them. I have now gone ahead and decided on some dog twins for some of our favorite celebs. Now, it’s not to say that I think these celebrities look like “dogs” in any sort of mean way (not at all!), but if they were looking for an ideal dog companion (or I guess if they for some reason had to take on a dog form?) this seems to me like what they’d go for based on what I perceive as their appearance and personality similarities.

Emma’s blonde waves are so cute and this poodle has that fluffy blonde look down, as well. They both just seem super chill and cool to relax and hang out (invite me, please?).

When I think of Rihanna, I think of super confidence and the ability to capture people’s attention, and this statuesque Doberman seems to have that down too. Plus, I think they both complement each other here with their sleek hair looks and their shared love for bold, colorful sunglasses.

Paw-Some: You Have To Watch These Dogs Play With A Balloon

Sometimes we humans really take the most simple things for granted – like, for example, balloons. To us, they just kind of float there and look pretty (or a little creepy. No? Just me? Okay.), but to dogs, they are maybe the best toy ever created.

Or at least to these two dogs. They’re more excited about playing with this balloon then I’ve ever felt about anything ever and it’s adorable. And look how they jump in unison! Nothing can cheer you up the way watching two dogs play can – or maybe that’s just me again. Also, I’m pretty sure one of the dogs in this video is identical to my dog, and that makes it even better. Anyway, watch for yourself and then get ready to have the urge to go in your backyard and play with a balloon like this. Because when you really think about it, it could be sort of fun.

I Like My Pet More Than I Like Most People

I’m pretty sure we can all agree our pets are part of our families. Some of us grew up with a certain animal and can’t imagine life without, some of us raised our pets from when THEY were babies. They comfort us when we’re sad, play with us when we’re happy, provide companionship and love.

I have a lovebird named Dixie (well, really, Dixie has a human named Amy – if you have a parrot, you know what I’m talking about). When I bought her and was told her lifespan, I realized I would have her until I was at least 40 – a long time. She’d be there to help me through all sorts of things in life. And since then, she’s done just that, and has always been the one I could come home to and tell about my day, guaranteed she’d pay attention. This is just one of a million reasons why I like my pet more than I like most people.

She’s never too busy for me. Sure, sometimes she’s eating or napping, but she’s always eager to hang out and snuggle and is happiest when I’m right nearby. If I’m up and moving around at 2am, she STILL wants to sit on my shoulder.

She gets along with everyone. She likes my friends, she LOVES my family, and my family loves her right back – my parents call her their grandbird. One of Dixie’s hobbies is giving lots of kisses, and how cute is that? It’s hard to find someone who everyone you know likes, but I did it!

She’s easy to please. She’s bossy about people keeping her company, but you don’t have to focus all your attention on her. She’ll listen to whatever music I want, or watch my favorite TV programs without complaint. Gifts? Give her a magazine to shred, apple pieces, or her very favorite, scratches on her head, and she’s stoked. It makes birthdays SUPER easy.

Admittedly, my human buddies have certain advantages – they can hold up their end of a conversation, rarely bite, don’t shriek at me when they want my snacks, and they’re potty trained, too – but nothing beats a good snuggle with Dixie. My life is SO much better just because of one little bird.

Okay, disclaimer: this video is totally weird. But the good kind of weird, you know? Like the kind you can’t stop watching.

From the same people who brought you dogs covering Adele songs and dogs covering “Call Me Maybe” comes “California Grrrs”. It’s exactly what you think it is: dogs covering Katy Perry’s “California Girls”. This one is by Katy Puppy (obviously), and it is pretty much guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The best part? The end, when the dog starts to sing “Wide Awake”. It’s just ridiculously hysterical.
