Wait, Why Are Sweatpants Always Considered A Bad Thing?

I’m obsessed with sweatpants, preferably the yoga pants from the Victoria’s Secret PINK line. What’s not to love? They’re comfy, they’re warm, they’re cozy and while they don’t scream “FASHION”, I honestly think they can be pretty cute. So I feel personally offended by this post on the New York Daily News that totally puts down Mila Kunis for being photographed in sweats. The dek for the post literally says this: “Once ‘Sexiest Woman Alive,’ ‘Black Swan’ star now dresses like an ugly duckling.”

I mean, seriously? Is that really necessary? Okay, so she’s been photographed wearing a lot of sweatpants lately. Um, who cares? How does this affect us? I get that she’s a celebrity and her appearance is always going to be judged, however unfairly that may be, but this article is just way too mean and nasty to ignore. Not only is it absolutely ridiculous to call someone who looks and acts like Mila Kunis an “ugly duckling”, but it’s totally not cool to rip on sweatpants.

Before we get into why sweatpants are amazing, let’s just talk about why Mila Kunis can rock sweats as often as she likes. The Daily News says, “Sexiest? More like schlubbiest woman alive” but I don’t agree. Let’s face it: whether she’s wearing dirty sweats or a $10,000 gown, Mila still looks hot. I don’t think she’s “seemingly eager to shed her Sexiest Woman Alive title”, as the Daily News says, and I don’t think she looks “dumpy” or “frumpy”, either.

Also, I don’t understand this: “She’s a Golden Globe-nominated actress for Black Swan, not a member of Justin Bieber’s entourage.” So, wait… being nominated for an award means you can’t dress like a bum on your off days or when you’re on your way to the gym? Whoa. Where have I been? Why didn’t I know this?

The article then goes into detail on the more respectable celebrity females who take the time to dress casually chic rather than “dressing like an unwashed teenage boy.” That’s when I stopped reading. Sorry.

Let’s get this straight: sweatpants are awesome and I don’t appreciate anyone telling me they’re not. I also don’t appreciate the NY Daily News trying to make girls feel bad about themselves for not looking like they just stepped out of the pages of Vogue magazine every single day of their lives. I love fashion as much as anyone, but that doesn’t mean a girl can’t rock a pair of sweats whenever she wants. Give me a break!

And now Jimmy Kimmel has made another one with all new celebs and it’s just as funny as the first. I mean, it’s not funny that people are spending too much of their time tweeting mean things to celebrities (sort of rude), but it is funny that the celebs are able to be so cool about it. In any case, it’s definitely a cute reminder to not let the nasty things people say stand in your way of being awesome.

Is it weird to count down to an awards show like the Golden Globes that you’ll never be invited to in your life? Just wondering. It’s not like I’m doing that. But if I were (and I’m not!), this would be the year I would. Because as I’m sure you’ve heard, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hosting and this can only mean good things. Great things, actually. Is Jennifer Lawrence Kind Of Calling Herself Stupid?

In case you were wondering if Jennifer Lawrence is ever going to stop being awesome, the answer is probably no. I have never met Jennifer personally (although sometimes I spend too long wondering what it would be like to be BFF soul sistas), but from everything I’ve ever read about her, she seems like she’s one of the most down-to-earth, sweetest, funniest and all around coolest chicks in Hollywood.

Her latest interview, for the February 2013 issue of Vanity Fair, proves that what I think is pretty much true. It also proves that Jennifer is the best celebrity to interview ever. I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this, but the majority of celebs out there give boring, impersonal answers that barely reveal anything about them to interview questions. Jen’s (I feel like we’re on a nickname level) interviews are consistently funny, real and interesting, whether she’s talking about the best thing about being famous or being all super confident about herself.

So what did she have to say this time? Just a few choice words about acting. Jennifer told Vanity Fair: “Not to sound rude, but [acting] is stupid. Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.’”

1000 points to J. Law for this statement, mainly because it’s true but also because I can’t get enough of her self-deprecating humor. Yeah, she’s sort of calling herself out here and saying that her chosen profession is stupid and lame, but when you think about it… she makes a great point.

Despite the fact that I have a probably unhealthy obsession with celebrities, movies and Hollywood in general (I blame the Internet), I’ve always wondered why actors and actresses get so much more cred than teachers or doctors or scientists searching for cures to diseases. I mean, sure, the entertainment industry is huge and our world would be boring without it. But where would we be without those professionals mentioned above? I don’t want to know. It infuriates me that people like Kim Kardashian, who literally does nothing, make millions of dollars a year; but people who are actually making a difference in the world, like volunteer firemen who save lives or teachers who help kids learn, will never see that kind of money in their lifetime.

So, yeah, it’s pretty cool that Jennifer can say something like that. Most celebs are so stuck in their own worlds that I think they actually feel like they’re doing something super important. It’s awesome to see someone like Jen be in touch with reality. Keep giving great interviews, girl.

10 Reasons (In Movies) To Look Forward To 2013

There’s a reason I pay monthly for my Netflix account, have impersonated my mom to order more movie channels (don’t try this at home, kids), and regularly annoy my boyfriend for movie dates: I love movies. Love, love, love them. Sometimes, there’s nothing better than spending two hours of your life completely immersed in a fantasy land of beautiful people, exciting explosions and so-romantic-they-hurt love scenes.

So I’m super excited for the movies that are coming out in 2013. While some of them look so-so, a lot of them look amazing. These top 10 that I picked are definitely a few reasons to look forward to the new year. Whether you’re as big of a movie buff as myself or if you’re just looking for a few good date ideas, these picks are totally worth spending your money on. Watch the trailers, find out why we’re so excited for them, and start counting down the days until they’re released.

Gangster Squad, January 11

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, together again. Do I really need to say anything more? I’ve been waiting for this to be released for what feels like years. Plus, I’m a sucker for these gang movies – they’re so exciting.

Warm Bodies, February 1

This is a new take on zombie movies, and it looks seriously adorable. Starring Nicholas Hoult as a zombie who finally finds love, it’s sure to be adorable, funny and exciting all at once.

Identity Theft, February 8

Honestly, this movie looks totally silly and is probably going to be very stupid in a funny way, but I’m still going to see it… mainly because it stars Melissa McCarthy. If you loved Horrible Bosses, you’ll probably love this.

Oz The Great and Powerful, March 8

Since I love The Wizard Of Oz, Disney, James Franco and Mila Kunis, I’m pretty sure I’ll love this. It looks so whimsical and fun!

Admission, March 8

In my opinion, Paul Rudd and Tina Fey can do no wrong – so put them together and that probably makes an awesome movie, right? That’s what it looks like. The premise seems a little weird, but I’m down for it.

Spring Breakers, March 8

Get ready to see a completely different side of Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson – personally, I can’t wait. It’s about time these Hollywood angels starred in something a little more gritty! If this clip doesn’t get you excited, then all of the girl’s endless Instagram pictures should.

The Heat, April 5

Another movie starring Melissa McCarthy? Yes, please! And since Sandra Bullock is always amazing no matter what she’s doing, you know this one will be extra great. It’s about time we had a funny buddy cop movie starring two awesome ladies.

Iron Man 3, May 3

The third installment of Iron Man looks a little bit more dark and depressing than the other two – Iron Man seems to have lost his trademark sense of humor – but still seems worth seeing. As a comic book movie nerd, I’m super excited for this.

The Great Gatsby, May 10

The trailer for this movie is beautiful, so I’m expecting the film itself to be just as visually enjoyable. With stars like Leonardo Dicaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan, it seems like it can’t be anything but fabulous.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, November 22

The movie everyone is most excited to see hasn’t released a trailer yet, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be included on this list. I’ve yet to see the first film and I’m still excited for this. I promise I’ll catch myself up before then.

10 Celebs And Their (Totally Cute) Dog Twins

Sometimes when I see a person and their dog, it’s crazy to me just how perfectly matched they are. Looks definitely play a part in it, but personality is usually there too. For example, my mom and my dog make total sense together. They both have fluffy blonde hair and do the same kind of eye roll, but they also have kind of the same friendly, silly personality.

Since I am a little obsessed with dogs, when I meet new people I tend to make an internal note about what kind of dog I’d match with them. I have now gone ahead and decided on some dog twins for some of our favorite celebs. Now, it’s not to say that I think these celebrities look like “dogs” in any sort of mean way (not at all!), but if they were looking for an ideal dog companion (or I guess if they for some reason had to take on a dog form?) this seems to me like what they’d go for based on what I perceive as their appearance and personality similarities.

Emma’s blonde waves are so cute and this poodle has that fluffy blonde look down, as well. They both just seem super chill and cool to relax and hang out (invite me, please?).

When I think of Rihanna, I think of super confidence and the ability to capture people’s attention, and this statuesque Doberman seems to have that down too. Plus, I think they both complement each other here with their sleek hair looks and their shared love for bold, colorful sunglasses.

Harry Styles and This Golden Doodle

Harry’s curly hair is pretty adorable, and perhaps he could get even cuter with this curly mop of a dog by his side. Not only do they have matching hair styles, but they both look like they could go in for a kiss any second.

I think JL’s low-maintenance vibe, with her wavy hair and flowing skirt, matches the carefree (but still fabulous looking) grooming of this long-haired sheltie. They both seem really laid back, comfy and just ready for fun.

This boxer mix has Johnny’s cool vibe here all nailed down, from the throwback hat to that not-quite-a-smile look that makes us wonder just what is going on in his head at this moment.

Anne looks sharp with her round glasses and scarf, and this yellow lab is there to match her with complementing intellectual style and similar “deep in thought” look. Plus, labs are just friendly, balls of energy, which is basically how I think of Anne.

I could really see this little Bichon Frise – decked out in a little matching tux bow tie — fitting right into Gaga’s headpiece here that matches his fluffy white fur. Since the little guy got dressed up here, I’m willing to bet he’d be game to dress up to match Gaga’s other ensembles, too.

Kristen Stewart and These Daschund Puppies

Kristen is rocking that gold dress, and these puppies share her same pretty dark hair and seem to have a love of sparkly gold too. These little puppies kind of hiding away in the decorations make me think of Kristen’s kind of quiet persona, so maybe the three of them could enjoy their breaks from the spotlight together.

This poodle has major rock-star style, just like Kesha does. The pair seems to be on the same page when it comes to their look, from the mohawk to the necklace bling, and Kesha has certainly rocked daring and vibrant colors in her day. I think they’d have a super fun, rocking time together.

Why Taylor Swift (And Any Other Girl, For That Matter) Is Not A Slut

Taylor Swift has had a tumultuous and often public love life, and now she’s starting to get some unwarranted heat for it. A certain entertainment news correspondent tried to slut shame Taylor Swift over Twitter recently, and while we won’t validate this guy by linking you to his post or telling you who he is, we’ll sum it up: He compared Miley Cyrus‘ somewhat rebellious, loose reputation with Taylor Swift’s wholesome, All-American girl through their love lives. He pointed out that Miley’s been dating and is now engaged to the same guy for three years (the gorgeous Liam Hemsworth). He then pointed out that the Taylor Swift dating life that she’s so notorious for: a rumored 13 guys in the same three years.

Here’s why that’s a problem.

First of all, it’s no one’s business who anyone else has sex with. But since he’s making every effort to make it his business, we should point out that Taylor Swift probably hasn’t actually dated every single guy she’s been linked to in the press–where would she find the time? And even if Taylor Swift dated these dudes, that doesn’t mean she was sleeping with them (not that it would make a difference either way).

Of course, this all comes with a bit of irony. Taylor Swift herself was rumored to be slut shaming actress Camilla Belle in her lyrics to “Better Than Revenge,” rumored to be about ex Joe Jonas. She sings, “She’s an actress / But she’s better known for the things that she does on the mattress.” Not nice, Swifty! Hopefully she knows better now about how damaging that attitude is. Slut shaming in general is a way to keep women down–and when women do it to one another, it stunts our progress and growth twice as much. It’s just as bad as imaginary celeb feuds.

Having sex doesn’t make someone a slut, no matter how often she has it nor with however many lucky guys she as sex with. The only thing that creates a slut is a misogynist attitude and unwarranted judgment from others. Period.

The fact is, Taylor Swift, Camilla Belle, and Miley Cyrus are all adults and their sex lives are their own business. As long as they’re all happy, safe, and consenting, who cares what they’re doing and who they’re doing it with?

Okay, maybe Harry Styles cares. But that should really be it.
