I’ve rounded up some of the most seriously awkward on-screen kisses of all time. If you were wondering how to kiss, here’s a tip: don’t do the stuff done in these videos. There is only one way to describe these smooches: bad. Just… ouch. I’m cringing watching them.

Charlotte and Brad from Sex and The City

Let me just agree with Charlotte, Samantha, Miranda and Carrie: Ewwwwwww! This is gross. Just… no. No. I can’t even watch this dude lick her mouth like that. It’s seriously grossing me out.

Harry and Cho from Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix

This kissing scene was awkward enough to read about in the book, but it was even more awkward to actually watch it in the movie. I mean, the girl was crying over her dead boyfriend. How can you kiss someone while she’s crying about something like that?

Rachel and Blaine from Glee

This kiss itself wasn’t that bad, it was more of the situation surrounding the kiss. Like the fact that we watched Kurt watch his biggest crush of all time kiss someone else – a girl, not a guy! – right in front of him. I felt his pain. Talk about awkward.

Olivia and Vanessa from Gossip Girl

Ouch. This was… bad. Not because it’s two girls kissing each other, but because a) Vanessa looks so incredibly uncomfortable as Olivia is coming towards her and b) Dan and Vanessa are just extremely awkward in general. This threesome was not something anyone believed would ever happen.

Michael Scott and a client from The Office

Michael Scott is weird and so it’s weird to think of him kissing anyone. But this scenario is even more awkward than what an actual kiss would be like because that actual kiss? Never happens. Oof. No one wants to be Michael’s shoes at this moment.

Joey and Rachel from Friends

I wish I could have found a video of Joey and Rachel’s first kiss, but unfortunately, I couldn’t. Anyway, basically every time Joey and Rachel kissed was awkward because… Joey and Rachel? No! There was a reason she pictured Ross almost every time they locked lips.

Damon and Elena from The Vampire Diaries

I’m sure this first kiss was very satisfying for fans of The Vampire Diaries, but for me? Not so much. I mean, look at Damon. He’s sweating because he’s sick and has a fever! Not because he’s hot for Elena. He looks like he’s seconds away from being unconscious. It’s just… weird.

Ben and Jamie from The Bachelor

Another kiss that was painful to watch, but even more painful because IT WAS REAL. It just looked like this girl was trying so hard… her dress even ripped! Ouch. Awkward. And this exchange was equally as awkward: “Do you like me sitting on your lap?” “This is A-okay.” Girl, stop talking. Just. Stop.

Pauly D and Deena from Jersey Shore

I literally screamed at my TV while this was happening because it was so horrible to watch. Deena, Pauly, I love you, but please don’t ever kiss on camera again, ever. That lip bite? Ouch. The look on Ronny’s face says it all.

The Virgin Diaries TLC Commercial

This takes the cake. I am convinced it’s not real. It can’t be real. Right? Right?!?!

Let’s be real: losing your virginity isn’t always as perfect and sweet as some movies and TV shows make it out to be. Sometimes it’s just super weird and awkward. The OC showed this so perfectly when Seth and Summer had sex for the first time. Everything started out cute and fun, and then, BAM, fish sex. It happens to the best of us, guys. And I’m kind of happy it happened to these two, because hearing Seth tell Ryan about it? Even more awkward and hysterical.

That time Dan’s heart got eaten by a dog – One Tree Hill

Honestly, this might be the funniest/most awkward scene of television history. I mean, a dog snatching a human heart moments before the operation? It just doesn’t get much better than that. Everything about this scene is ridiculous (in the best way). First of all, why is there a dog in the hospital? Second of all, why does everyone stop and stare but no one tries to grab the dog? This is awkward perfection.

When Jimmy got shot – Degrassi

I am not in any way making light of school shootings, but we all have to admit that this super dramatic Degrassi scene was just a little bit ridiculous, not to mention really cringe-worthy. This kid was supposed to be Jimmy’s friend, and then all of the sudden he’s shooting him and paralyzing him? It doesn’t get much more uncomfortable than that.

When Aria tells her parents about her relationship with Ezra - Pretty Little Liars

I have no idea why these two thought it would be a good idea to come clean to her parents about their totally illegal/creepy/still-somehow-cute relationship, but they did, and so this happened. It was so uncomfortable to watch that I kind of wanted to turn my TV off. From Aria’s little brother punching Ezra in the face to her parent’s completely understandable shock and disgust, this had to be one of the most awkward scenes in PLL history.

When everyone finds out Blair still loves Chuck – in the middle of her wedding – Gossip Girl

Oh, Blair. How did you not see this coming? Even though I was totally rooting against the marriage of Blair and Prince Louis, this was still a little hard to watch. I mean, she was up there smiling and getting married in front of hundreds of people, and then everyone gets a text message with proof that she loves someone else. Like, video proof. I felt awkward just looking at her face and it wasn’t even real.

Speaking of awkward, MTV’s Awkward features maybe the most awkward moments of all and that’s exactly why I can’t get enough of it. I wouldn’t trade those totally uncomfortable scenes for anything. The season premiere is on tonight at 10:30/9:30c on MTV.

My other bestie told me that when it came to blow jobs, you should fill your mouth with as much water as possible before heading south of the border.

“But . . . wouldn’t you, like, spit water all over them?” I asked. Even though I’d only kissed boys before, this seemed really, really wrong.

“Yeah duh,” she said, “they like that.”

Um no. They don’t.

So, I did the only logical thing—I turned to a guy for advice. My best guy pal was your quintessential horny teen boy, and was more than happy to give me tips on oral sex.

But he didn’t want to tell me . . . he wanted to show me. And I ain’t talkin’ about on a banana, neither. My dude friend proposed that he and I become friends with benefits, but in a very educational way. I’d go down on him, and he would give me tips and notes. Then, he would reciprocate, and vice versa.

My mistake, of course, was assuming that hooking up with him wouldn’t be awkward. Since we couldn’t exactly get it on with parents in the house, we took refuge in his mom’s Mercedes SUV (omg so small and uncomfortable) and I got down to business. He had given me some pre-action tips like, “pull your lips over your teeth so you don’t scratch Mr. Wiggly” and “keep it as wet as possible.” Well, I tried.

I remember being shocked at how it tasted—normal. Like your finger. I don’t know why but I always assumed a penis would be flavored. Once I got passed that great shock, I realized that the word “job” is in the title of this activity for a reason. It’s a lot of work! Coordinating your hand with your mouth with your teeth with your other hand, all while wedged inside a compact luxury SUV. Thankfully, as a 17-year-old boy he didn’t take long to finish–but that’s where things went wrong.

I don’t know what I was expecting, but there was a lot more, you know, than my mouth was prepared to hold. I panicked, I didn’t know whether I should spit or swallow and then the most horrible thing ever happened: I coughed. And “it” went EVERYWHERE, spewing into the air and all over Zack’s mom’s leather upholstery. He burst out laughing but I wanted to crawl into the glove compartment and die.

And that’s the story of my first time going down on a guy–and how I got the nickname “Fountain.”

So if you’re worried about your first time being perfect, just know from a girl who has been there that well, it probably won’t be. But that’s okay–you’re normal, and anyone you hook up with (when you decide to!) is lucky–even if it is a little awkward!

We were in high school and I’d only been dating him for a couple weeks. We’d just had our first kiss, and he called me that night to tell me how awesome it was. I was psyched and couldn’t stop thinking about kissing him again–that is, until he asked the most inappropriate question ever:

“So, can I finger you next time?”

Woah-woah-woah! I quickly said, “Uh, NO?” and I could tell he was super embarrassed. I still don’t have any clue what he was thinking–I mean, I haven’t read any rule books that say kissing automatically leads to sticking your finger up me! I saw him again about a week later, and there was no more mention of my “down there” area. I think he got the hint!
