There's no particular recipe for preparing soup in a pumpkin. I throw in whatever I have around the kitchen. Then I stand in front of the oven like a witch, watching the potion bubble up.

preparation:
1) Open up a medium-sized pumpkin by carving a circle around the stem. Clean out the seeds and keep them in a bowl of water. Throw away the loose pulp.
2) Make sure you have some soupy ingredients on hand (vegetables work best).
getting started:
1) In a large pot, stir fry onions, carrots, peppers, potatoes, celery, garlic and anything else that seems to fit the mood. (A bouillon square can add nice flavor.) Add a couple cups of water and bring to a boil. Simmer until ingredients are tender, about 30 minutes.
2) (Optional) Puree soup in blender. Add salt and pepper as needed.
3) Pour ingredients into the pumpkin. Close it back up with the "lid" you cut out and bake in the oven for about an hour. It's ready when the pumpkin gets a little soft on the outside.
4) When serving this concoction, make sure to scrape the inside of the pumpkin so that it mixes with the soup.
