The first few weeks after my move to America were great because there had been so many things that I wasn't allowed to do when I was in the girls' junior high school in Korea. (Now, it's a different story, but in the mid-80's, things were very strict there.)
Dating a boy at that age was considered an evil thing to do. (Don't get the wrong idea--nowadays, things are different...) American girls at my age seemed so much more mature physically, and they seemed very aware of the opposite sex.
On the other hand, I had a young-looking Asian face and absolutely no experience in dealing with the opposite sex. When I moved to America, I not only had to deal with how I looked different from everyone, I also had to deal with some serious culture shock, most of it revolving around school.
There were many things to try and learn as first steps to becoming an American teenager.
