#10
I had continued recording, by myself and with my friends. My recordings tended to sound more like a band than like a "solo act," thanks to the endless possibilities of multi-track recording, and eventually, I decided to actually have a band to play with live. I'd gotten to know lots of musicians over the years, through friends and through touring and recording and so I started asking folks to play in my band. It was sometimes hard to teach other people how to play my songs since I was self-taught and not very music-theory oriented, but with perseverance and a bit of mime we accomplished the task.
Lesson number ten: You can change. You can start off in a loud rock band and then decide that you really like to sing cabaret. Or you can start off as a solo singer songwriter and then decide you want to play with a full orchestra and a heavy metal drummer. You can do anything you want.
