As if this isn't exhausting enough, I have to watch what I say no matter who I'm around. My step-mom gets uncomfortable when we talk about my mom, but my aunt on my dad's side always wants to ask how my mom is doing, so she waits until my step-mom is out of the room. Also, I have to wait until she's out of the room to ask her husband about his kids from his first marriage, who are also my cousins.

At my mom's dinner, they love to talk about my dad and how my mom is better off without him, but not in front of my sister because she gets upset. Also, my mom's sister used to date my dad's brother way back in high school, so they each sneakily ask me questions about each other. I can't even imagine how much crazier my family would be if my mom's sister and my dad's brother had actually gotten married too!
