Earlier in the month, I heard from one of my friends that Kevin said he liked me and was thinking about asking me to be his girlfriend. However, I hadn't decided whether I shared the same feelings. Being one of his friends and knowing what happened between him, Eunice and the however many other girls he had dated, I wasn't sure if I wanted to become "just another girl" to him. Our friendship was great, why ruin that?

By the time I knew he was going to ask me at the party, I decided maybe it was worth a shot and maybe our relationship would be unlike any other.

My birthday party turned out great--sure enough, Kevin showed up, privately took me aside and asked me to be his girlfriend, his exact words being that, "I was someone he could really see himself with for a long time and things between us will be different...better...than with anyone else."

Later that night, we shared our first kiss.
