As the Beatles song goes, "It's getting better all the time (it can't get no worse)." Although I will never stop being shy, it's becoming less of a problem...but it fluctuates. There are times when my shyness is especially bad. When I'm depressed I tend to retreat into my room and stop talking to people--that's the "It can't get no worse part," but for the most part, "It's getting better all the time."
Here are some of my milestones:
During junior year of college, I asked out a boy for the first time. He said yes.
My senior year in college, I co-taught a class. I had to stand up in front of a group of student every week and speak for three hours.
In October, a semi-famous celebrity came to Syracuse University and I asked him to join me and my friends for drinks. He said yes. (And I'm not going to tell you who!)
I have had several sucessful interviews as the interviewee and interviewer. Hey, I even
scored an internship at gURL.com.
I will never completely overcome my shyness and I'm OK with that. It's time for all of us shy girls to embrace that aspect of our personalities. I may be a shy girl, but I own it.
