Where did the name Evanescence come from?
The word Evanescence means to dissipate like vapor, it puts an image in your head of like a ghost/specter that isn't really there.
What are some of your influences?
Tori Amos, Bjork, Radiohead, Danny Elfman, and a lot of classical artists like Mozart
Do you write the lyrics from life or do you base it on literature?
Our lyrics are written from life, but we're creative people who have a mind for film, and storywriting. Obviously, all the things that are written in our songs lyrically couldn't happen that way to one 21 year old person. They're artistically changed to be like a picture but yeah, life experience is the biggest influence in all the lyric writing.
How was it working with Paul McCoy from 12 Stones on "Bring Me to Life"?
Paul is great! He's the nicest guy and totally professional. He also has great stage presence.
Are the fans getting a little crazier?
Our fans seem pretty down to earth. Any of them who know us at all from the message board or from seeing us live, should know we don't really take anything too seriously. Our music is serious, but that's our release, we're normal people outside of that. With the exception of a few insane ones...they're pretty normal people too.
How would you like to see Evanescence turn out in the future?
We just hope the band is successful and that people are moved by our music. The only real point is that we want to connect with people as artists and hopefully the people will get something positive out of it.
