How many people work in the store?
Just us. We recently took a trip to New Orleans with "Elle" magazine. We had someone work the store for us then, but otherwise it's just us.
Where do you get the clothing from?
We don't like to buy from customers. We generally travel all over the country and buy from estates and thrift stores and everything, really. But I'd say we get the best stuff from estate sales.
If someone wanted to sell their clothes, what would you recommend?
Clean is really important. We launder everything so if someone brings in something that's stinky, it just turns us off that much more.
What kind of stuff is easy to take care of and what is hard, when you're buying clothes?
Missing buttons, no problem. Seams ripped, no problem. Moth holes, big problem. Holes that aren't on the seam, big problem. We try to look for things in larger sizes. If something is amazing and a size 2, I'll buy it but we try to buy larger sizes because it's so hard to find larger sizes vintage. I mean, I go to boutiques and I ask if they have anything in my size and they say no. I went into one place once and I told this woman, I love shopping but there's nothing in my size in boutiques and she said, "Well skinny girls buy." These new t-shirts that we started carrying, a large fits a size 6; it's just insane. I have a friend who's a gorgeous plus size model, and she has to shop at H&M because she can't find anything in her size. If I get anything in her size, which is a 16, I have to call her immediately.
