francoise (robertine barry, b. 1863 - d. 1910)

Robertine Barry, known to her French Canadian female readers simply as Francoise, wrote magazine stories and short fiction documenting the difficult and sometimes abusive lives of rural women in Quebec during the late 19th century. She also helped to create the first women's page in a Quebec newspaper.
