
gURL: Since most teenagers (and most adults!) can't afford experimental couture, do you have any advice on how to be avant garde on the cheap?
Christian: One way? Virtually, like the Gaia project. I think that's why it's so popular because even if you don't have a lot of money, you can create your dream version of yourself. [Non-virtually], like for prom, [most] of my clothes weren't made 100% from scratch. I buy things, alter them and add things to them, which is so much cheaper.
Like, for a guy, buy a suit or a blazer and put trim and funny epaulets all over it. Just add things. The same with girls' clothes. Go to Macy's and buy a really plain black dress that's not too flashy already and add your own things to it. Use a hot glue gun, that's fine. Nobody will know, trust.
