I love my unique name. It bothered me for a while when I was younger but now I love explaining what it means to people and seeing substitute teachers' faces when they take attendance. My name was the name of an Aztec princess. I'm told it means flower in English. My grandmother wanted me to embrace my Native American culture so she named me at birth. Thanks to her I have embraced my culture, my ethnicity, and my unique presence in a room, all with a name. Thanks Nana Carmen.
