My given name is Sokhun. But my doctor decided to add teary (no h) to it to make it longer and sound more beautiful. So then it became Sokhunteary. It means luck, survivor, happiness, and some flower. I got the name because I wasn't expected to live and people expected my mom to have a miscarriage with me after she was escaping from the Thai soldiers. My parents also told me that part of my name is after this monk who helped them through those hard times in Thailand. When I came here to the United States, my grandfather changed my name to Sokhontheary.
