My name is Crystal Gore. I like my last name. It's nice and short; one syllable; impossible to mispronounce; always makes it through spell check when I'm writing papers. There's just one teensy weensy little problem: Everyone always asks me if I'm related to Al Gore.
I don't know if I am or not, and quite frankly I do not care if I am. This really would not bother me, except I live in an area with a high concentration of Republicans and they all HATE Al Gore. So the second they hear my name, they go off on some tangent about politics.
Oh well, it could be worse. Some positive things have happened on account of my name, like I already had signs made when I ran for student council president. All I had to do was go down to the Democratic Party office and take some of the free ones.
