Choose
You have to see what is more important to you: your friendship or the guy. I know it sounds easier said than done but that is what you have to do. In reality, a girlfriend sticks around much longer than a boyfriend. Afterall, boyfriends are not forever but friends can be. If it were me, I would try to stay away from the guy as much as posible, so your friend doesn't end up hurt. Imagine you were in her place. How would you feel if she went after your boyfriend? Probably not too good.

Find A Distraction
I'm sure he isn't the only guy you like so I think that maybe you should try going out with someone new. Focus on him to take your mind off of your friends man. You never know, you might actually start liking this other guy. I hope this helps. I have so much sympathy for you because I know that love is a powerful thing.

Be Yourself
Listen to your heart. Do you really like him enough to give up your frienship for him? But more importantly, is he willing to give her up for you? Weight all of the options and then make your decision. Good Luck!

Best friends are forever. They know your deepest secrets and understand you. If you are willing to throw all of that away, go ahead, but guys are a dime a dozen. There will be others guys, and if you are really meant to be together, you will be.

He Isn't Yours
Well, not being able to give up on him is the biggest problem. He is not yours, and like it or not, he choose your best friend. So either you can not give up on a boy and lose your best friend that you could be friends with 20 years from now, or go for a boy who will probably not last. You will be boyless and bestfriendless. If I were you, I would forget about it, find a hobby and leave him alone.

Oh!
This is a hard one. You have to be careful and not let this guy ruin your friendship with your bestfriend. In the end, he might be a jerk and you may have lost a friend over him. And if he would cheat on her to be with, what makes you think he wouldn't do the same to you? Friendship is more important than some guy!
