I have a problem...when I grow up I want to be a singer, but I'm scared to sing in front of people. Everytime people catch me singing, they stop me and ask if I do talent shows or perform, but I don't. I get so nervous that I start to shake. Is there any way I can stop being nervous and sing in front of people?

    I have the same problem
I have the same problem. My throat locks up too but I have an insane love for being in musicials so this is the i trick use: just concentrate on a friend/teacher that you're comfortable with. Take a deep breath, and then just pretend your dancing to your favorite song in your room. Also, it's good not to hold something if your shaking so dancing will help make the shaking less noticeable (I learned that from a teacher who does plays)and it'll give you more stage presence, which will make them like you more and make you look more confident. If your nervous, try and play if off as confidence or just being excited.

    SAME!
Hey, I'm a great singer too. It such a wonderful gift so try not to think of it as anything you should be embarrassed about. Everytime anything comes up in your mind or from other people about your singing, feel proud. You have something almost no-one else truely has! Getting used to embarrassing yourself, feeling more confident, and doing crazy things will help you. If you want to do something (even a tiny thing) that you don't want do because of other people, just do it for yourself. Think : I'm just going to do it. The real cure? Doing it. It takes a lot and you'll have the fear of fearing it. But trust me I had the same thing and I went ahead and did it. I made myself no matter how embarrassed and then I just started enjoying it! So you go sing gurl! xxx Hope this helps!!

    Pretend...
Pretend you're the best singer in the world. Seriously. I play the flute and piccolo, and every time I have to play by myself for an audition or something, I think to myself, "I'm going to do SO WELL and I can't wait for them to hear me!" Even though nobody's perfect, sing like you're the best singer who ever lived, and that you're so excited for people to hear you, and your audience will start to believe that too!

    On Stage
I too am scared to sing in front of people and I also want to be a singer. One thing that really helps is pretending like the whole room is full even if its not. Think to yourself, - "when they hear my voice everything else will be forgotten." People who love to sing get caught in their music and forget about their worries. For that period of time, all they know is the message in the song, and the beautiful voice that follows it. Honestly, it wont work at first but keep trying it. Eventually you will gain the confidence!

    Just sing
People are more concerned with their own mistakes than yours, so don't be scared if you do mess up. They'll forget about it in no time, but if get out on that stage and sing your heart out, that they'll remember.

I know where your coming from
The trick to getting over stage fright is to stop caring about what people think and just lose yourself in the music. Sing for the pure pleasure it gives you. You've got talent, don't be afraid to share it!

Start off slow. First, start to sing in front of family members, then your friends, and then start to go to kareoke places with your friends. You need to believe that you can sing in front of people.

you have nothing to worry about
Try singing in front of large groups of people. Whenever I perform for a small group of people, I always get nervous because it's easier to get feedback, but with large groups of people, they can't all talk to you individually.

    advice : )
Maybe if you figured out what you are afraid of. Is it because you think people will laugh at you? That you could fall or trip? You know the old saying "the only way to overcome your fear is to face it."
