My current boyfriend and I are so in love. We are both freshmen in college and I am bringing him home to meet my mom at Christmas.

The only problem is my boyfriend is not Christian. My mother is totally against our relationship because of it. What can I say, or do, to make my mom understand?

    The "Christian" thing
If your mother was any type of a true Christian or believes the things she reads in the bible, she would know that being a Christian is about doing the right thing. The right thing is to accept you and your boyfriend. No matter who he is, whether he has 3 legs and a tail, or if he's just not Christian.

Life isn't about being the same as everyone else. Christianity is about acceptance and faith. Not just faith in God, but faith in life and love. All kinds of it. Remind her of that.

I'm not a Christian myself, but I was raised in a Christian home and family. They were very prejudice about a lot of things. But anyway, tell your mom that you love him no matter what she thinks of him.

    Good Luck!
Although your boyfriend is not Christian, it does not mean you have to break up. I suggest that you talk to your mother and get her side, and ask her if that is the only reason she dislikes him.

Religion should not matter when it comes to love. You are your own person; you are an adult, and you can make decisions for yourself. Tell her that you respect her opinion and her strong beliefs/values, but it's a new time and age.

There are many people who date people with different religions, ethnicity, and such. Plus, nobody really talks about their religious beliefs in a relationship. It's not like you guys are getting married and even if you do, it shouldn't matter. I hope this helps or gives you an idea. Good Luck!

    Let your mom know that...
Although your boyfriend may not be a Christian, he behaves as well as any Christian guy. Maybe you can tell her what you like about him, and ask her to give him a shot.
