I am in a new school and I feel so depressed. I just can't seem to blend in no matter how much I try. My classmates are making friends so fast; before I know it they already are in their "cliques."

I've tried so hard to make friends by asking for their emails and phone numbers, but I still can't seem to get any closer to them. I can't talk to them about anything because I don't share same interests with them.

Sometimes at school I just feel like crying, and the more I think about my old friends from my other school I get even sadder. I don't know how I am going to get through this...please help me.

I know what you're going through
All I can say is sometimes people are just plain stupid and mean. Sometimes they are prejudice and don't want anyone else to join their group. Just be nice to everyone. Oh, and who wants to fit in any way? Just be yourself. Don't try to FIT in and be something you're not. TRUST me, people will just dis you more. Try joining some clubs like band or color guard, if you like that. Just do what you like, and you'll meet people to hang with.

    Just Try It Out!
OK, now listen. What I'm about to tell you might sound like it will never work--but trust me, just try it out for a while and people will be swarming around you in no time! Here is the thing, stop going around asking people for their e-mail address, phone number or even their name. At least, try to pretend that you don't give a damn about other people's life or what they have to say to you. Basically, give the attitude that you are way better than everyone, and that it would ruin your reputation to hang out with losers like them. It might sound cold, but it's the fact of life. When people see that you don't need them, that's the time they would want to be around you the most.

I know how you feel. I used to move all the time. I made friends by showing people the real me. Don't worry, sooner or later you'll make a new friend. Also to me, it shouldn't matter if you don't blend in. You should just be you.

It's really tough to switch schools, but it does get a little easier. Try joining some after school programs and getting to know people that way. When it comes time to work on projects take a leading position. Be friendly. Don't worry about not fitting in right away. I felt like I didn't fit in with everyone, even in my senior year, but that didn't stop me overall. I was on teams, in clubs and did theatre productions. I always found at least one person who I could relate to. Try that.

That's pretty much my world. If you don't fit in, you should try to stand out. You can never be what you're not. I know it sounds cliche, but it's so true. Trust me, I spent 6 years trying to fit in, and finally decided around the middle of 9th grade that I was just gonna live every day to the fullest and not care what anyone thought. If that means wearing lime green miniskirts, hot pink/black leggings, and slip ons with rainbow octopi on them, then do that. If you stand out, you may make friends, because people will notice you and go "oh hey, that girl looks interesting, I wanna meet her." Oh, and by the way,I really am not trying to discourage you; but I joined sports hoping to get closer to people, but it IS hard to break into cliques. I still get left alone at tournaments and stuff. But that isn't to say you shouldn't try to find people with similar interests, you should.

    It takes time...
But don't worry too much about it! Trust me, I remember when I moved and how hard it was to adjust to things. I ate alone, I was always the first one in class, I was a loner. I remember crying at night to my family who lived in my home state about how I wanted to come home... But as weeks passed, everything got easier and I learned to DEPEND ON MYSELF... You can fall hard and low, but YOU ALWAYS GET BACK UP.

    THIS HELPS A LOT!
Ok so last year I moved to my new school. First of all be nice to EVERYONE, no matter what rumors you may hear about them.
