	i'm the only skater girl... no one else at school is gay my friends say i'm an oreo goth and proud of it i'm mormon and my friends tease me being confident is boring... i get teased me because i'm jewish... i play football my mom won't let me wear a thong... i want to be a singer. i'm labeled as the black girl who acts "white." it's so annoying.

I want to be a singer. I have been singing and writing songs since I was in 4th grade. I can really sing but I don't know where to go from here? Who do I turn to for help in the music business? Please help me. I am desperate!

    If you want to sing, a good idea is to start a band...at least that's what I'm doing. I'm a singer like you and starting a band really helped.

    Myspace it!
    Well, more and more new artists (Lily Allen is a good example), are getting signed to record companies through myspace.com. You'd have to read up on the instructions, though, and how exactly to get your stuff up there. Hope that helps.

    Find local places that you can get a gig at! That's the most important thing to do. Also, make sure to get a MySpace page so the people that like your music could spread you around!

    If you have a voice teacher, you could ask for some ideas. If you also enjoy acting, you could join a local musical theater group. That will help get you out there a little. Another idea is to start signing up to sing at cafes and other places where they have open mike nights. Ask around and see if you can find a good place.

If you are really good and/or if you work hard, you might be able to score a deal where you sing at that place on certain nights. Then you may get noticed by someone. You also might meet other singers or bands who can introduce you to people or tell you where to go.
