I go to a small school where everyone pretty much knows everyone else. I am known around school as the shy, quiet girl who doesn't talk very much. I want to change my rep for the new school year, but I have no idea how to do it. Any ideas?

    I feel exactly the same!
Hey, well I have always been known in my school as the shy girl who no one really knows very well. I really want to change my annoying reputation too and make a fresh start. I want to be more sociable and get a boyfriend but I think all we can do is try to be more outgoing and have a positive attitude about life, school, friends and general aspects of adolesance. I have my fingers crossed for the upcoming term! GOOD LUCK!

    Be funny
Being funny always works. Everyone likes someone who's sociable. Try to talk about the latest fashion trends, but don't get too carried away. You can also talk about the latest disasters around the world and show how sensetive you are to those things. Everyone likes someone who cares. Don't tease anyone or bully. Share. Be generous and stick up for younger kids. It always works.

Just act like you're not shy...
Try not to care or worry about being liked or popular, just be your nice friendly self and the more relaxed you'll seem the more people will talk to you. Try to have a good posture, relaxed body language is very important, people can notice that from afar. Just be positive and everything will go well. Act like you're not shy. Take a new start and enjoy! Good luck!

    Take it slow...
I think it's great you want to be a more social person. I'm a really shy girl and hate getting in awkward "silent" situations around people. Since i go to a smaller school too, most people know my personality. For advice: I think just being yourself helps, for starters. Then people can see the real you. Start saying hi to people you usually don't talk to, ask them questions about themselves, or ask them about school stuff. Petty soon people will realize you're changing and you will meet new people. Hope that helps!

    Be Nice
I say that you should help others. When someone drops something around you help them pick it up and don't laugh at others when they are being picked on, bugged or just laughed at by peers. Unlesss they want to be laughed at (being a class clown). Smiling at people helps but only if you don't stare them down while smiling, just glance at them when you pass them and smile. If someone is sitting alone maybe go sit with them. You'll make them feel better knowing they aren't alone.
