idk
i think that i got the shot but i really dont know so yeah --Posted by a_unique_person
Im Really On The Fence On This One..
Yes, I do think it is a good thing to have the HPV shot, but the price for it is really high if you dont have insurance which some families dont. I know where I am at the whole series of shots would cost a ball park figure of $320. Which is way out of my league when I have other things that I have to pay for also. If I am not mistaken it is required of some schools to get the shot once you enter the 6th grade? If that is true then does the school pay for it or do you pay for it? Because if its mandatory then I feel that i shouldnt have to pay for it. --Posted by kkahneschik18

It is expensive, but for a good reason
Sure the cost may be pretty high, but it's not like you're spending this money on something unimportant. This vaccine can help protect against all types of HPV. If you're between the ages of 9 and 26, (it doesn't matter if you already have one type of HPV, or if you've already engaged in sexual activity,) then I say why not call your doctor and spend the money on something that's totally worth it! --Posted by bsherms13

Totally Worth Something
I think having an HPV shot is normal and will keep you healthy if you are between the ages of 9 and 26. It's like any other shot, but more expensive then most of the other shots. You should have your parents get you an HPV shot. --Posted by tobytothemac14

It's good.
I already got one of the three shots, and I don't know what the side effects really are yet, but so far all I've experienced a little pain at the injection site at random parts of the day, but that's it. I really think it's a good way to help prevent Cervical Cancer. --Posted by poodleypierawrr
good thing
I think getting an HPV vaccine is the best thing to do especially if you are sexually active. --Posted by art__freak__10389
good
the shots hurt like a bitch but they're a good thing to geet.
i've gotten all three and i feel alot safer now that i've had them.

I'm thinking about getting the shot, but I'm going to wait it out a little longer. I have other womanly health problems so I don't know how that may effect those, if at all. But I do believe that it's a good idea. Anything to help. --Posted by hislilarmybrat
Expensive but necessary
I admit, the price of this vaccination is ridiculously high without insurance, but I think that it's really necessary for girls. Cervical cancer is a disease that you do not want to have to deal with - and treatment for it is probably far more pricey than just preventing the disease with the HPV vaccination in the first place. --Posted by musiclvr3
it can save lives
i think the shot is a great thing. although we don't know what the long term affects are i trust scientists and trust that they know enough about vacinations/what is in this one to predict that it is not harmfull to people.
EVEN IF YOUR NOT GOING TO BE SEXUALLY ACTIVE you should still get the shots. you can't predict when your going to start having sex with enough time to get all three vacinations, even if you wait until marriage to have sex you could still get the virus from your husband if he has had any sexual partners of his own.
so why not - and if its cus you don't like getting shots, thin kabout all the shots you'll have to get if you get cancer. i wouldnt want to take the risk. --Posted by hellokitty240

I HAD mixed emotions
I had plenty of mixed emotions about this topic. I thought in a way it was promoting sex, but the more that i sat down and talked about it with my doctor i chose to have the shot. I think anything that can prevent cancer, is a good thing. Cancer is one of the most deadliest diseases on the earth. I also heard that you can get hpv in other ways rather than sex. Im not sure how true that is but i have heard that. Side effects are always scary to think about, but any kind of shot or preventative medicine has side effects, but they wouldnt sell it if it had terrible life threatning effects. I think making it required is a bad idea. People should have the choice rather or not to subject their teenage daughters to this vaccine. I think 9 is a little bit young. --Posted by smartgurl18

What about rape?
For all of you who are saying it will encourage girls to have sex, you do not want to get HPV (then later possibly cervical cancer), from getting raped. That would really suck. (wow I sound intelligent...) --Posted by kitty1632

its saving people
i dig becuz hpv is deadly.... get the vaccine you wont get it.... --Posted by mericole
It's important!
Even though I personaly hate shots, I got the shot. Well my mom made me get it at my physical but I belive that it will help one day in the future. Why would you not want to protect yourself from cancer? --Posted by crystalycat

Eh...
I'm kinda on the fence on this one... Sure it's a great thing, but it hasn't been around very long, so we don't know any of the potential long term side effects. --Posted by julia3254

.......?
Yeah, i mean it's great they found something that will help us in the future, but i'm not sure if i want it stuck in me with a gaint needle. PLUS i don't think there was a whole lot of reserach on this shot cuzz we don't know what it will do in 15 years or so........ --Posted by sportyshorty1241

dont think so
I'm not about to have a gaint needle go into my body just so i can do "things" with guys. It is extreamly pointless. And we dont know all of the side effects to this shot it is prob poison. --Posted by fruitlooper
eww
itz a shot who would want one i dont care if it helps you i hate shots --Posted by x3gurliexhottie
well...
i hate shots haha --Posted by ex-lover
hmm.
well i just got the last of the three shots a couple days ago. and though i feel fine and the idea is good, we have no idea what will happen years from now. it worries me a little. --Posted by ldot

I'm just saying
The thing that I have against it is all about sex too young. This is a sexually transmitted disease and they are trying to say that all girls 9 and older should get the vaccination and I think that is saying that all girls of that age are having sex. I think that is so wrong that I can't believe that it's almost true. --Posted by imawesomeanduknoit
hurt like heckkk
yeah its great and all to be protected from it, but after i got it i could barely move my arm for a day after i got it. it hurt so bad. other than that i dig that its helping prevent serious diseases. --Posted by myendlesslove

Yall Ho Dig It Is Stupid
#1. you should not be sexualy active when your young
#2.dont want to catch something
#3 its stupid to just get a shot cause u may have hpv test the person then give it to them
#4. it wears off and you wont want to get another one in another 12 months
:) peace --Posted by brisweetheart

it has its benefits buuuuuut
it hasnt been around very long. it seems like a great idea. protecting young girls. i know people will have the arguement that an 11 yr old girl shouldnt be worried about it so why so young, but better to be safe than sorry. i see more negatives than positives right now for it. so i dig the idea but i need something more reliable --Posted by cathy63573

again.........
again girls 9-15 (or 16 and mybe 17) shouldnt be having sex anyway. And I HATE SHOTS!!!!! --Posted by fruitlooper

I've never known anyone with HPV so I'm not too worried about it. --Posted by hairsprayfan

IMO...
It's telling girls of all ages that it's okay to have sex, even unprotected sex, because as long as you get this shot, there's no consequences. Of course, this is absurd. You can still get pregnant, and even get all sorts of other STDs. Besides, I've heard it hurts like a mo-fo, and I'm terribly afraid of needles, so the idea of getting three shots would kill me (I have to get a tetnus shot tomorrow, so I'm pretty much freaking). And the cost. Jesus Christ. I'd rather not have sex than spend that much money on a shot that we don't even know the long term effects of.
Wow, my rant is over. --Posted by moderndaydrifter
HPV is not only contracted from sexual contact, so
it is pretty wise to get it.
But of course, they haven't researched this thoroughly, so I don't know if it's completely safe.
And like everyone else, I hate needles. --Posted by girlwholovestheworld
