Love 'Em
School plays are underrated. At my school, the audition process is rigorous, only the best get in. We work for months to get everything just perfect. People don't appreciate our hard work a lot of the time.

School plays are so much fun to participate in, giving people who don't live close to theatres the opportunity to practice their craft or just hang out with friends. Also, they provide cheap, worthwhile entertainment to the members of the community giving another group of people their chance to shine.

everyone needs a break from school to watch a play!

School Plays=Yay!
I love participating in the musicals and plays at my school. We have an excellent drama and music program, and the drama productions are just a lot of fun to be in! --rachel

Crew rocks.
I am a relatively good actor. however, I have been on stagecrew for three years, and when our school's play season rolls around, I am just about the happiest person alive. I get a lot of responsibility since our stagecrew usually has only 15 people, and this year I was the elected crew leader, since I was the oldest grade in the school. my point is, I LOVE even just listening to the play while I work, and I love our plays. the last 2 have cost us $3000 and all 4 shows sold out. my main point is, I LOVE SCHOOL PLAYS. I'm even going to my middle school after school next year just to be a part of it.

fun
I like doing school plays! I'm not the acting type but doing lights and stage props is actually lots of fun. On the other hand, sometimes it is the director who makes the expieriance a living hell. My director was directing the Little Mermaid. She was mean and loved to yell at people. Like there was this gothic chic who was a backstage crew member and she was wearing all black like the director told us to. But she also had silver chains on her pants, so that set of the directors time bomb and she yelled at her, saying, "Tose chains are going to show up in the blacklight scene! What are you stupid?" And she put some actors down behind their backs, saying one person was a terrible singer and another person couldn't act worth a crap! I am serious! Anyways I liked doing plays.

Theater Love!
I'm really into drama. I've done some musicals in the past, and I can't wait to try out for the play this fall! I wish people could appreciate theater like they appreciate, say, football.

My personal experience
I am dissing my own school plays. This is not to say that school plays cannot be awesome, but that my own director is completely biased and feeble minded. She has her favorites that no one can deny, and to make up for the lack of talent in the people she chooses, she spends all our money on costumes and glitz. This teacher wants to be their 'best friend' and so she does anything to appease them. The last play we had we didn't even have a cast list and her little drama pets went around proclaiming not that they wanted a certain part, but that they WERE it. And sadly, they pressured her until she gave them the role. And now I'm in trouble for starting a petition for a panel of judges and an organized schedule (all our practices are given to us last minute and are changed on a whim also). So much for democracy.

Guy and dolls
I needed and extra curricular last year so I went out for the school musical. I've never had voice lessons or anything but I did get a call back but ended up as a missionary girl with no lines. Yet I had to go to all the practices which took about 3 hours. And In the end each person had put about 75 hours into it. And we did 3 One hour shows. It's like cooking you put in a lot of time and effort and they you get to eat the fruit of your labor. BUT YOU DON'T GET ANYTHING TO EAT! By the end of it I hated everyone there and swore I would never be in another play.

Ugh
While I do have to commend drama teachers for all the work they put into these things, I absolutely hate school plays. I did ONE school play- once. Being a huge drama person myself, I hate the fact that whoever tried out got a part-talent or not. Also, the lack of dedication in many of the cast was awful. No one knew their lines or lyrics when they should of. It was terrible.

No!!
All I have to say is BORRRRRING! UNLESS their is a hot guy in it.

BIG DIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are such a stupid bore!!!

pua-lease!
school plays??? anyone gets in thoes, and 99% of the time there written by a half-assed teacher who doesnt know the first thign about writing. school drama clubs do not even attempt to keep people who cant act out of complex roles (if the writer can put enough thoughts together to make a complex role) if you really want to act, join a theater group, they have people teaching you who actully have experience with acting and prefroming. my acting coach is a professional director and has been involved with casting for many canadian television shows. if you dont really want to act, then dont act. ...sept for high school drama clubs...i dont know what there like..so..

BORING
Omg i hate school plays. They are so boring. It's just a bunch of drama people who cant really act but try anyways. Some can act but some just can't. Most of the time we're forced to go to those dumb ass school plays. They are so dumb and they put you to sleep. I hate them.

most of the plays picked are overdone or have a lame plot.
