I totally and complely DIS AGREE with the person who said : Suicide is definetly something that is stupid and selfish!) Because if someone doesnt like their life, then why does it matter to you. say your dad rapes you every once in a while, your mom doesnt know, and you cant tell her or it will break her heart, then you get pragnent, and your dad tells you to tell your mom that the father is some boy at school, and you do. And then, your boy friend that youlove and have been together with for 5 years, dumps you because he finds out about you being pragnent. now would u kill yourself?

if you donot like your life than thats your problem. everyone takes life differently. if you your grandma died you may take it differnt than another girl who loved her grandma as much as you and than goes and hangs herself .but if you dinot want you to kill your self than you should go to an profession

Well i believe it should be optional when the person is incapacitated and life is limited to sleeping on a bed for the rest of your waking moments. Mental issues need not apply. See a therapist for that.

If someone doesn't want to live, thats their choice. Rather than have them bumble around and try to kill themselves, why not let them go out peacfully. Doctors let people die everyday when they pull "the plug" or when someone is beyond saving. Everyone has the right to spell out their own destiny. Everyone makes suicide sound so dirty but when people are in pain and don't wanna live, then they dont wanna live. I'd rather a doctor kill me while I am sick because I wanna die than to suffer or have to do it myself.

some of those examples were just completely irellivent. it's usually used by people who are elderly & sick. they are in a lot of pain, and are going to die soon. why die in pain? if you want to die peacefully, go for it. you can put animals to sleep, why not people? every single person that dissed it didn't have any form of back up. they just said it was wrong. they based this "suicide" off of teen depression, and it's not true. if someone wants to kill themselves (not physician assisted) it's none ofyour damn business no matter how stupid or wrong you may think it is. stop judging others.

Just to put it out there: generally physician-assisted suicide is a debate revolving around older patients or patients who will [almost positively] not improve and will be in pain until they die.
The idea isn't, "Hi, I'm an angsty 15 year old and I'd like to go buy some cyanide from a doctor because my boyfriend dumped me. I don't really care how anyone else will react because no one loves me." The idea is more along the lines of, "I'm 76, I'm in serious pain and have a dehabilitating illness, I know I'm probably going to die in a couple of years but I'd really rather not suffer. It'd be great if I could just pass away peacefully."
That said, I think that each person has a right to their own life, and therefore should have the right to end it. And frankly, a doctor would be able to talk to people about their decision, make sure that it isn't painful or grotesque, etc.

It isn't a problem for the rest of us. If I was a human vegetable i would want someone to put me out of my misery. The only way to live is to live freely, it is harm to yourself not to anyone else......

the people on the dis board clearly dont understand what physiasian assisted suicide is. its when a person with a terminal illness decides to die painlessly and with dignity insteed of being in horrific pain for months, going into a coma, becoming brain dead, draining thier family's assets and finally dieing. so insteed of killing themselves in a painful way, thier doctors prescribe an overdose of medication.

If you want to commit suicide then there is something mentally wrong with you ( not in a mean way but in a scientific way). Doctors shoudl not be able to kill another person. ANd people who commit suicide should seek help because theres always going to be crappy times but life can only get better

the only time a doctor should help in the death of another is when the patient can no longer helptheselves, as other said a doctor can not just plan out give you drugs to end your life. THats stupid if you are taht suicidal, asking a person for help just makes it murder/asisted suicide which is a crime. I am suicidal my self, but burdening someone else is not what i would do is not right. . I just dont like the whole idea that someone can have the power of killing even if its yourself, ex: the teri incident. . .

Look, if you commit suicide, you won't go to heavan. You have to ask forgivness for all your sins. Even if you overdose on pills and don't die instantly, God knows what you've been planning. Just remember this phrase and you'll be okay (pardon the launguage) " God is nobody's Bitch"

I really don't think anyone should commit suicide. Like even if a girl was getting raped then I'd run to the police during the day and get help or something. I mean like...I know life can be really hard and stuff but...I just don't think that's the right answer. Especially in teen years cause a lot of people get depressed during them, and you just have to remember to keep going and work through hard times. The people I respect are the ones who can work through their problems and get help, suicide is kind of pathetic, just giving up. Think about the people you love or who love you, even if you don't realize everyone who will truely miss you.
Oh and just so you know I'm not really like the other people on here saying "God won't send you to heaven" cause I'm an atheist (I know, how dare I, attack me) but I still feel this way about suicide.

I am a medical student, as of now I am taking a class on ethics... We are talking about physicain assisted suicide, I think it's rediculous. Yeah in some ways I can understand why someone would want this for themselves, but even then I think it's selfish. I personally don't care if I was parapalegic or whatever I love my family and friends too much to leave them before my time is up. In ways this is suicide, and that is wrong everyway you look at it. I know depression, I'm 21 years old, we've all been there... but com'on... I think all these people that think it's okay need to think about this... " what if it was your mom or dad, sister, brother, best friend... ect???"

the people should go through their problems. suicide shouldnt be an option. yes, they can just go kill themselves and whatnot but that is completely selfish of them. they dont like whats going on, so they take away their life and leave their loved ones behind mourning for what went on. and doctors shouldnt help out because it is just unethical. it aint cool. and its a serious decision. to live or not to live..... hmm....i would rather choose life. i mean if a person is seriously depressed and goes and does this thing then its not like they get another chance at life. this is their only shot they get at life. and for the people who are considering this....jesus loves you!!!
