Why bother, it's so painful! All you need to do to clean up the bits that stick out of your bathing suit is trim it, you don't need to wax your whole crotch. And without that "hair," I bet your boyfriend really wonders if you're as old as you say you are...
Oh, and I wouldn't really recommend shaving it either. Um, you kind of get red bumps from ingrown hairs if you shave it and that's kinda... gross.

Waxing does hurt a bit. But unless you wanna be totally hairless, trimming the sides or plucking w/tweezer, or shaving, or Nair, that should do it. It's not like your whole pubic area shows in a bathing suit. Just the sides.
