i've never seen an independent film but i feel like its a good way for an aspiring entertainer to get their feet off the ground.

It beats most of the crap coming out of Hollywood and the plots are better. A high budget and a drugged-up starlet doesn't mean a better movie.

Indies say what studio films sometimes can't. They're not all good, and not all studio films are terrible, but I tend to prefer the feel of indies.

I often find that in Indie films the acting is better and the plot lines are deeper and better than any Hollywood films.
My favorite recent Indie film I saw is called Thumbsucker. Check it out.

the only movies worth watching
theyre the best. indies have alot more passion and emotion behind theyre movies. no matter what they are bout, it ends up a perfect movie. i luv channels that only play indie movies like ifc!!!!!

Though not all indie movies make much sense, there are some really good ones. plus it's good to see different actors and actresses.

I absolutely adore independent films. They typically have more meaning to them than your big blockbuster flick. (even though sometimes it takes a very long time to decipher it haha) Nevertheless, some of them do make NO sense at all... but occasionally I need something to make no sense. :) Love them!!!!!!

Indie films are love.
Franktheradio pretty much summed everything up.
Indie films are more meaningful and are usually more art-ful and complex.

Generally, pretty bad. Ussually bad acting, bad storys and highly overrated (mostly by critics). You have to remember that these people are amateurs who haven't experienced the life of a screenwriter /actor/ director whatever. It's sort of like watching a bunch of ten year old children put on a play.
This is the way I see it-
Little Miss Sunshine = Bad
Brokeback Mountain (before it was a star studded, high budget movie it was an indie) = Bad
Christmas in the Clouds = Bad
That's pretty much all the indie films I've ever seen.
I also hate how the critics always give indie (& foreign) films a break. They have some weird indie-fetish. (Sometimes critics can be pretty biased in general yet strangely, I still want to be one.o_O)
