do you think it's okay for models to be as skinny as in this ad?
an ad for Valentino, copyright 2000.
People often complain that skinny models have a negative effect on teen girls' and women's body images. What do you think?

...looks like a tranny. but on a side note, all the comments saying those types of bodies are disgusting or unnattractive is rather cruel. there are so many NATURALLY skinny girls out there who are just as insecure about their bodies as the curvy girls. i myself fit into the curvy category, but i think you people need to be a bit more considerate. --Posted by skeezydeezy 07:02AM EST 10/25/08
Someone needs to slap them with a raw steak...
The fashion industry seriously needs to put some real people in their ads. They'd get a lot more positivity towards their models. Find some real teens, real women. Skinny models are NOT beautiful. --Posted by dancerpenguin 05:23PM EST 10/19/08
Why is this the beauty standard?
It ISN'T attractive. This girl looks like a stick bug and is in serious need of a sandwich. What happened to curvy women in fashion? Or are they just too obese for designers these days? --Posted by drama.betch 05:30PM EST 10/17/08
Some models are so thin they look freaky and ugly and gross. And, yes, this is one of them. --Posted by rosie_toes 08:33PM EST 10/11/08
Some people are just naturally skinny. Though, I have to admit, the dress just dosen't flatter her at all. --Posted by redheadrunner 08:06PM EST 10/10/08
I'd rather buy clothes from a company that put curvy girls in their ads.
These bodies are not attractive! How can girls want to look like this! I'm proud of my hips and thighs! The modeling industry NEEDS body diversity. One or two skinny but not skeleton girls are ok, but we need some people with realistic bodies in ads. Because it's the only thing some people see. --Posted by blakrubbrduk 05:24PM EST 09/28/08
Even without considering the girl's eating habits or how much her image has been altered, it's just not attractive. It's not in the company's best interest. They won't sell as much, especially now that everyone cares about models looking exactly like them. --Posted by stolenelectron 04:40PM EST 09/02/08
