Others take a different approach--they prefer to have sex only during the lighter days of their periods or at the end of their periods when there is less blood to deal with. If you'd like to try having sex during menstruation, that might be a good place to start.

The bottom line, though, is you don't have to have intercourse during your period if you are uncomfortable with the notion. If you're not going to enjoy sex during your period because you find it too messy or you're going to be distracted by your period the whole time, perhaps it's better to wait for the "all-clear."
