  Dear Heather,

Me and my boyfriend kissed one night and then the next time we were together we didn't. Should I kiss him instead of him kissing me?

Hi.

Kissing is sort of hard to plan--as you may have noticed. It sounds like you liked kissing your boyfriend and want it to happen again! But how to make sure it does...

I think you should go ahead and kiss him, if it feels comfortable. There's no reason to leave things like that up to the guy; the real question is what works for the two of you as individuals. You have a few things to consider about his inaction. It's possible that he is just being shy. Is he like that sometimes? Maybe he used up all his nerve on that first kiss. Or maybe he just wants to take things slowly.

If you go a long time without kissing and that feels strange (but you don't feel like initiating it yourself), you might want to talk to him about it. Just so he knows how you feel and has a chance to tell you the same.

But meanwhile, I don't think there is any need to worry. It's not exactly a requirement of having a boyfriend that you kiss every time you see each other.

Take care,
heather
