The right herbal scent can lift your spirits in the morning and help you wind down at the end of the day. "Essential" oils--some flowery, some spicy--mix well with those odorless oils that are good for your skin. You can get them at some health food stores and candle shops.

Materials: Perfume bottle; small bowl; jojoba or coconut oil (enough to fill your perfume bottle); 10-15 drops essential oil. *
Instructions: 1. Mix four teaspoons of jojoba or coconut oil with 10-15 drops of essential oil in your small bowl.
2. Fill the bottle with the jojoba or coconut oil and then slowly add the mixture from the bowl--drop by drop, shaking and testing as you go, until you get the right fragrance.
3. If kept tightly capped, in a cool place for a week or so; the blend will settle--and improve!
* some favorite essential oils and what they smell like:
lavender
sweetly floral and also herbal, with a slightly sharp, balsamic undertone.
patchouli
heavy, earthy, woodsy and musty; gets sweeter as it lingers.
