saving the world, one pad at at time

In many rural areas around the world, women still don't have access to modern menstrual products. Because of this, girls are forced to stay home from school when they have their periods, which means menstruation is a direct barrier to education for people who really need it.

Some groups are taking action:
Proctor and Gamble donates Always pads and Tampax tampons to girls in rural Africa. Disposable menstrual materials are helpful in areas where water--which is needed to wash reusable pads--is more rare than pads. You can even get buddy icons to spread the word about this cause.

The organization Goods 4 Girls was created to encourage people to donate new reusable pads to girls in areas where water resources are available. Goods 4 Girls prefers reusable pads to disposable pads or tampons because they create less industrialized waste in these rural areas of the world. Donations can be made in the form of pads, money and sewing skills!
