g'day, bidet
One relatively safe (though only temporarily effective) way to deal with menstrual blood is to flush it out with clean water. The bidet is a toilet-like device that squirts water to give a little shower to your nether regions, including your vagina and anus.
Though the bidet was invented in the early 1700s, the first documented recommendation for menstruation use was in 1911 in "The Woman as Home Physician", a German guide for housewives.
Today, bidets are still used in many countries, including France and Spain, to help you get squeaky clean down there--even if for just a few minutes until your menstrual flow resumes.
