I chose my second tattoo, a "flaming giraffe," from a Salvador Dali painting. I've always been a fan of Salvador Dali's work, and ever since I saw the particular painting with this little giraffe in the background, it's always stood out in my mind.
To me, it's a beautiful representation of the frailty of life. A giraffe is such an unexpected thing to be engulfed in flames; yet, in this painting it is possible. My interpretation is that nothing is the world is immune to tragedy or disaster. And the giraffe is such an oddity of nature in itself...I find it stunning.
