the bikini

The easiest way to go about this is to make the bikini in parts. Look out for this map throughout the guide to see what part of the bikini you're working on:

to start...
First you need to know how to hold your work!

  1. Make a slipknot and insert your needle through the knot. Pull the knot so that it's somewhat snug to the needle.
  2. You want to hold the needle in your dominant hand as you would a steak knife, with your index finger directly under your slipknot.
  3. With your left hand, wrap the "working yarn" (the yarn coming from the ball) around your fingers so that it gives you a taught feed. This wrap can vary based on what's most comfortable for you. You should be gripping the garment and current stitch with you middle finger and thumb on your left hand.

The most important thing to remember about holding your yarn: keep the tension so that you don't get either too loose (you'll lose control of your stitches) or too tight (you'll end up fighting your other hand to feed you the yarn).
