What it is: Crabs are lice (little whitish bugs) in the pubic area that feed off blood. May also live in armpits and hair.

How you get it: Through close contact with a person who has it. Sharing underwear, clothes, bed sheets and blankets. Pets can also carry these bugs.

Symptoms: Mild to severe itching. Possibly little specks of blood in underwear from bites. If you look closely, you can see them.

Prevention: Avoid close contact with someone who is infected.

Treatment: Special medication prescribed by a doctor. Wash all clothes worn recently, anywhere the bugs might live. These creatures can be very tough to get rid of, and you may need to repeat the shampoo treatment a few times.

Long-term Implications: None.
