gURL guide to crocheting a bikini
Left Image
possible problems

Oh no, I dropped the stitch!
OK just breathe. We're going to get through this! See that loop there? Put your needle through it and redo what was lost. Crisis averted!

My stitch is too tight. I can't get my hook through.
Do you have long nails? Put down the needle for a sec and use your nails (or some tweezers) to get in there and separate the butt from the rest of the stitch. Once you've got it loose enough you can wiggle the needle in there.

I've almost crocheted the entire thing and it's not nearly enough to cover a gerbil, let alone me.
This happens. The best thing to do is to recognize it as early as possible, because the answer is always the same: rip it (pull out all the stitches) and start again.

You can't get too attached to your stitches. Some people will continue on something that's clearly gone awry because they don't want to start over. Try not to think of it as starting over. It's just part of the process.

Um... you can see right through my suit.
Yeah...If you've chosen a light color yarn or made very loose stitches you'll want to line your suit. It'll require a little sewing know how...

  1. Go to your local fabric store and ask for nude liner fabric. Most fabric stores will only sell by the yard, so you'll probably have to get 1 full yard.
  2. Cut the fabric to the same shape but just a little bit smaller than the bottom and the triangles.
  3. Get thread that is close to the same color as your yarn. Pin the lining in place inside the bikini and sew down the corners.
