gURL guide to crocheting a bikini
Left Image
the strings

For the strings I just made simple chains and used the loose tail ends to tie them into the corners of the pieces. Between the cups I made a chain of ten. Around the neck and around the back I chained four chains of ninety and for the bottom ties I made four chains of sixty. If you want to keep it simple, you could make braids, or even use just some heavy duty ribbon or rope.

You can also add some pizazz to the strings of your bikini if you're feeling spunky. Here are some ideas:

  • thread big plastic or wooden beads onto the strings
  • tie decorative knots every half inch
  • use a different color yarn for the strings so they contrast with your suit
  • attach a charm to the string that's holding the cups together across your chest so it hangs like a necklace

YOU'RE DONE! When you've finished your bikini I suggest getting out there and strutting your stuff as much as possible. When people ask you where you got your amazing bathing suit (and they will), you can just casually stop, pull down your shades a little bit, and say, "Oh, this...I just whipped it together." And then just sashay on your way.
