buying a car
With more cars on the market than ever, choosing your first set of wheels can be a little daunting. The first thing to consider is money. Look at your savings account, talk to your parents and figure out a budget. Then decide if a new car fits your budget, or if it would be better to buy a pre-owned car.

New Cars
Why buy a new car? Lots of reasons. That new car smell for one. Plus, you can choose your own color and options (iPod compatibility, 6-disc changer, alloy wheels...). Aside from looking good (and all those great extras), a new car also provides piece of mind. Yup, that means reliability and a warranty.

A few things to remember when buying a car: be patient and do research. Here are some possible steps to take:

1. Make a list of possible cars.

2. Go to the dealership and test drive all the cars you might be interested in. (Do not get pressured into buying. Tell the sales person you only want to test drive. If they are rude, walk out, go somewhere else.)

3. Log onto Edmunds.com to compare all of the cars you like. You can see how much people are paying on average for their cars.

4. Make a decision, keep a price point in mind, then go and get your new car.
