Music producers and engineers may be responsible for the whole recording process, from laying down tracks to mixing and mastering. Or they could be hired for a specific job, such as recording just the tracks or mixing previously recorded tracks. Producers and engineers also work in post-production, where they could lay down tracks for movies, sound design and voice-overs for TV commercials and feature films.
Helen Garcia, who works in student services and admissions at Recording Arts Canada, says that "many graduates open up their own studios and recruit various bands and musicians for work."
