Getting More Advanced

So, you've mastered the basics of the signature--but what happens when you would like to go beyond?

Here's how to use "source" to create a more complicated siggy.

To create a signature in Source, you will need a basic understanding of HTML. If you don't know any HTML, check out our gURL guide to HTML, or consider building your signature in WYSIWYG.

For this example, Alexis would like to make a horizontal line in her signature. Since she doesn't have this option in WYSIWYG, Alexis will build this in source. She would like to put this horizontal line under her title, but above a little message about chain letters (and how annoying they are). The HTML tag for a horizontal line is: HR width="80%". To make the line larger or smaller, all she needs to do is change the percentage in between the quotation marks.

In the siggy box, Alexis first chooses "source." Then, she types in all the info she wants in her sig. To incorporate the horizontal line, she uses the HTML tag. In source, the HTML would look like this:

To see what it will look like on her posts, Alexis clicks on "WYSIWYG." This is what the HTML code will make the text look like:

This is just one example of what you can do with the correct HTML knowledge. Once you know the ins and outs of HTML, there will be no end to the things you can create.
