Starting From Scratch
Let's start with the basics. To build your siggy for the first time, click on "my board settings" (make sure you're logged in to the site). This will open up your profile page, (also known as "your room").
Click the "my board settings" link again. This will bring you to an orange screen; scroll down to the portion that says "personal signature." It should look something like this:
Below the siggy box, you will see two options: WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get") or Source. If you select WYSIWYG, it will simply be a matter of copying and pasting images or text into the box (this is recommended for beginners).
If you select Source, you will need to use HTML (which is more complicated and will be covered in the section "Getting More Advanced").
Not sure what to put in your sig? Here are some common things people use: first name, nickname, username, pictures, quotations, blinkies or avatars. It's important to remember not to put any personally identifying information in your sig (like your full name, phone number or email address), for internet's safety sake, and to keep with gURL's community rules. If you want to read more about internet safety, click here. To read the gURL rules,

WYSIWYG Here's how to create a signature using WYSIWYG.
To add a special quote or message to your signature:
Simply type your message in the blank siggy box.
For example, Alexis would like to make a signature that will let members know they can contact her for gURL community problems. She types her title into the siggy box, but it's so plain and BORING...
To change the font, color, size and formatting, Alexis can use the formatting buttons and drop down menus at the top of the box. To do this, she first needs to highlight the text she wants to change. Then, she can change the color, font, size, etc. This looks much better:
To save this, she'll need to scroll down to the bottom and hit "submit." To test how her sig looks on the boards, Alexis can go to the Siggy Test Folder, located on the Web board.
To add an image or blinkie:
First, find an image or blinkie you would like to include in your siggy. If you didn't design or create it, make sure to ASK permission to use the image. It's considered "stealing" if you just use someone else's picture or blinkie without their permission.
As an example, Alexis would like to place one of Dani's images in her signature. She has asked Dani for permission and Dani is happy to share. Here is what Dani's signature looks like:
Alexis would like the blinkie that says "Test Your Siggy." She highlights the image (by clicking on the mouse and dragging it over the image), then copies the image. She then pastes the image into the sig box.. The image "Test Your Siggy" should appear, like below.
