Inversion

It's said that inversions--poses in which we go upside down--allow the head to learn from the wisdom of the heart. They are great energizers, and shaker-uppers.

Begin in downward dog with your fingertips about six inches from a wall. Walk your feet a few steps forward until your hips are above your wrists or approaching that.

Figure out which leg you're more comfortable kicking with, and step the other leg in another step.

Lift the kicking leg several times to get used to the motion, and once you feel the momentum, swing the leg all the way up into the air, bringing the other leg up as well.

Rest both legs at the wall, pressing firmly into the fingertips and flexing the feet. Draw your shoulders away from your ears and bring your navel in toward your spine. Take child's pose when you come down.
