Seated Spinal Twist
Twists are great detoxifiers--they literally wring out the spine. Be sure to twist gently, however, and don't try any binds at first, because you could easily tweak your back.
Start from a seated position with your legs straight out in front of you. Cross your right leg over the left and then bend the left leg, tucking it around to the right. Feel both your sitz bones making contact with the earth, and press into the ball of your right foot.
Raise your right arm straight up and then turn your torso to the left, beginning the twist from your navel. Bend your right elbow and use the arm as a lever against your leg to gently deepen the twist.
As you inhale lengthen the spine up, and as you exhale twist further. Stay here for five to ten breaths, and when you release the twist gently turn your torso to the right for a counter-twist. Repeat on the other side.
