Unfortunately, many cases of Body Dysmorphic Disorder go undiagnosed, and therefore, untreated. People with BDD often seek the help of clinicians, thinking that their disorder is physical, when really it is a mental illness. Clinical doctors are not trained to recognize the signs of BDD, so many people with BDD may not receive appropriate help.
