Doctors treat toxic shock syndrome with a variety of methods. Typically, an IV is used to provide antibodies (to help defend the immune system) and fluids. These drugs are used to prevent organ damage, lower fever and control blood pressure.
Also, menstruating women with TSS may have their vagina cleaned with an antiseptic solution--to get rid of bacteria that produced the toxin. With STSS, doctors may perform deep surgical cleaning on infected wounds to remove dead skin or muscle.
